Hi All,
This is my first post on this BB. I hope it is informative.
Bleach is made by combining water and sodium hydroxide with chlorine. The end result being sodium hypochlorite.
We mix sod. hyp.(12.5%) and sod hyd.(in flake form)for many different cleaning applications. I have never had any adverse chemical reaction from mixing these two chemicals together. Probably because one is derived from the other. However we always wear the appropriate safety gear. Sodium hydroxide can cause severe eye damage and lung irritation.
For more info on sod. hyp. go to clorox.com, click on science and follow the links to product manufacturing. There is a full explanation.
Hope this helps, Keith |
