We use bleach sometimes in wood restoration to kill mold and mildew but that is all. I leaves the wood with this bleached out look, not as vibrant. Bleach also doesn't clean up dirt it just kills stuff so we mix it with soap to kill two birds with one stone. The acid is our main resource when restoring a weather beaten deck.
