About four years ago I switched to cleaning gutters with a vacuum. Started with a shop vac and burnt it out in one day. Next was an industrial shop vac wihich I still have but found it still wasn't powerful enough for huge jobs that needed long lengths of hose. Two years I got my hands on a home-made 55 gallon drum vacuum that we are currently using. It has two 12 amp central vac motors mounted onto the lid. Our main problem is power, we too often trip the homeowners breakers and if they aren't home we can't finish. Anyway I'm greedy and still looking to make a more powerful vacuum. I have been researching building a trailer mount with a huge generator to power it. I would need to run up to 150' feet of vacuum hose to reach everything from the street. I thought of just adding more of the central vac motors, 6 actually. The other option is to go with a regenerative blower.

Does anyone out there have any experience with this. If I do the 6 vac motors can I hook them up in a series to get more vacuum pressure? I'm also trying to figure out if it's possible to have a collection bin or two and have the water be able to drain out automatically when they get full. We are in BC and have tons of rain during gutter season so we end up sucking up all the water as well as the dirt.

A sutorbilt positive displacement blower, gas powered will do the trick. Same as used by many truck mount carpet cleaners and hose length is infinite with the right set up.

Vaccum motors in series will produce more lift aka Hg and is good for moving solids, while CFM is good for moving air. You need a good combination of both.

The size of the generator to power a six head vacuum will be very large and 6 heads is a bit overkill. 2 quality motors will do the trick, and a sump pump can be mounted in the drum to remove water as needed.

Your best bet is to get an adequate generator for the vacuum that you have and use your own power. No more tripped breakers, not much additional equipment or cost as compared to your other theory. Keep it simple

Have a look at a small sewage truck with a 200-300gal tank on the back. These are used in the porta john industry. Much the same idea as Mr Allen, but from a different application.

Sorry for the long delay, I just got my computer back and working. I have looked into the pd blower and think that's the way I'm gonna go. Thank you for the replies. Now to figure out what size.
