Question

Hey Wiz,
I'm thinking of putting my Hot water PW in my enclosed trailer and if I do I have a couple of questions. My trailer is 7'x12' and I would like to put the PW along the right wall about half way in. The burner stack would be aprox 4' from the opening of the trailer. Same with the engine exhaust pipe. I would like to vent them both upwards and then put a right elbow in each pipe so they are exhausted out the trailer. So when ever I open the trailer the exhaust pipes would be facing outwards up top. The reason I don't want to go thru the top of the trailer is because I have numerous ladders up there. Would the PW run ok with this set up or will it get to hot in the trailer causing the Pw to overheat? And will there be any problems with the PW if I exhaust it this way?
If this is ok then I have another question concerning my water tank. I Plan on keeping my water tank up in the bed of my truck. Since it will be elevated compared to the PW thats in the trailer and it will be further away Aprox 10' because of the elevation would it feed ok into the PW. I already have my trailer set up where the inch and an eighth id hose quick connects thru my trailer into another hose which would run to the PW. One more note on this along my left wall in the trailer is a bunch of shelves and underneath them is six 5gal gas cans which would be aprox 3'across from where I plan on putting this PW. Should that be a safety concern? I figure with the weight that is on this 5 shelf unit along with the gas cans it should somewhat counter balance with the PW. Any thoughts on this will be once again greatly appreciated. THANKS -John-

A Right turn in the stack of the burner is a No-No. The burner will soot up real fast and will not burn. a 45 is better but not recommended. streight up is the best. Also never run a pipe smaller than the original size bigger is okay but smaller will soot up the coils faster. As for the tank as long as the pressure washer does not have a float tank on it it will draw from the tank. If it has a float tank remove it.

I wish I had you guys 4 years ago, we did the bend thing for a trailer mounted unit & it did soot up the burner. We then put vent through the trailer, used a roof penitration for a stove (same size as the burner out-let)and got ahold of a golf-cart guy to extend the exhaust from the engine (flex tube to muffler under trailer very quite, which we needed). As for the ladders on the top I bet you could weld up a holder on one side which would be away from heat & still hold a lot of ladders. As for heat on the inside we added a vent on the front which could open & close. We did'nt have problems with the engine over heating but we did have other things in the trailer we just did'nt want to heat up. Worked good & still is

Daren,
I did have a very similer exhaust on my unit but had a a soot build up problem. Did you make a ny modifications to your burner to prevent soot build up? Another question. What size is your trailer pictured?

See how big the vent is? That is why his problems are less. The size is large enough to supply the needed air passage.

David,

The elbow that fits down on the opening is much wider than the opening which allows plenty of air flow plus as Wiz noted the pipe is big.
The trailer is 7 x 16.
