Default Burner working intermitantly

Doing a job the other day and the burner was working as it usually is but I will have hot water for a short period of time and then it would go cold. Then I would get hot water for a short amount of time and then it would go cold. Any basic things that I can look for that could rectify this situation. Thanks for your help.

Does the reset button trip out? If so a weak battery will cause that. Check the high limit switch. Have you checked the fuel pump for a possible short connection?

Blown Away,

There are numerous possibilities as to what is
happening here, to properly diagnose I will need more data.

Is this a 115 volt or 12 Volt burner?

Controlled by a pressure switch, flow switch or vacuum switch?

Does unit have adjustable thermostat?
Does unit have Hi limit switch?

Fuel solenoid on burner?
(Check for loose connection on all of these items,
a loose connection could cause intermittant operation.)
