Default hydrotek, good or bad

hello again,
Still looking for a set up. Found about a 5 gpm 3000 psi today by hydrotek, 8 years old but used only a few times a year. comes with 200 feet hp hose, 2500 watt generator, honda motor, gas with diesel burner on a single axle trailer. 150 gallon water tank with a 400 gallon for a few hundered more. 2 reels, gun and lances. Everything I need.

My questions.

1. Where does hydrotek rate on the quality scale

2. What would you think this may be worth given the info.

thanks.

Got no idea on the value of it but I would recommend Hydro-tek to any one. I think we have had about 20 of them in the past years and all were great units. We had Hondas and Kubotas on them.

As pressure washers go, Hydro-Teks are the Volkswagons......Although you get alot of expierience repairing them.....

How can you say that they are a lot to repair? Like most other pressure washers they feature a Honda/Kubota engine and a CAT pump. Its just parts put together. The burner controls are usually just standard Beckett controls. What’s the big deal? Besides normal maintenance and normal wear and tear the only thing that ever broke on ours were the front hold down/adjustment bolts for the pump which we redesigned and made our own.

I agree, most are standard system controled, altho some are better buildt frame work.

What I look for is how hard or how easy it is to work on and replace parts, some are wooly burgers to work and replace parts on.As for as which one as to depend on in the burner department I would pick the 120v over the 12v.You'll have less burner problems but as usaul when buying something a little better the cost is higher.

I own 4 Hydro-Teks none of which have Cat pumps (would be nice)..... All of mine are driven by 20hp Kohler motors one of which I have replaced 7 shaft seals which the manufacture did not stand by. Have you ever tried to replace the generator belt on one of these babies ????? Bolts are not welded from underneath and they have a mounting plate which is enclosed on all four sides.... So if you install one make sure that the machine is elevated (6-8" inimum) and you have access to all four sides of washer. They install no oil change tubes out of the box, making the pump oil extremley sloppy to change... The one feature that I do like on this manf. equipment is the location of the unloader (very accessible)..... Just like any other machine maintained properly it will last a very long time, however I beleive there are other brands out there that put more thought into the design of their units...
