Hi. I've been doing all residential or flatwork. Today I received a call from a nursery to give him a quote on washing 11 trucks that he would like washed 4-5 times per year. First, I don't even know what these trucks look like...I've been doing some reading here so I don't look like such a newbie when I go there tomorrow. What chemicals should I use? Depending on the truck, can I just rinse, spray on chemical, use some heat/pressure where needed and move on? Thanks in advance...

Personally, I would not touch these with at all. They are always going to be filthy when you wash them, and the or 5 times a year, may hit an annual schedule pretty soon to where it is just a pain. I would be willing to bet that the guy will be way anal, as well.
If you still do decide to do thee vehicles, I would not even think about touching them for less than $40 a truck, because I think that they would be such a pain that I would have to price it high enough that I never felt bad about going to wash them.

Use soaps made to wash fleets,yes depending on the filth/mud rinse before appling chemicals,in most cases you can skip the rinse before appling the chemicals.I figure the trucks will run from pickups to box trucks,washing 4-5 times a year I'd give a depends price on each.Ask what all he wants done before giving a depends price on each,sometimes they want the beds/inside rinsed out.Plus do not figure on washing 11 trucks on each trip,that usually doesn't work out b/c of alot of reasons.

I just looked at these trucks. There is one 24' and ten 20'. He only wants the outside (cab and trailer) washed and they actually looked pretty clean. Is $40 per truck still a good estimate to provide? Thanks.

Are these box trucks...a cab with a box on it? if so your pricing is ok.

Yes, sorry my truck terminology is lacking. Basically they are U-Haul type trucks.

The lowballer would have gotten something like 6 to 8 dallors,the next guy up the ladder would got something like 10 to 15 dallors.The all most professional would have got something like 20 to 30 but the top of the line salesperson would have got something like 40,good going on your pricing.In the time frame between wash jobs I do not figure those trucks will get every dirty,good account profit wise.

Congrats on that pricing! We do a few nurseries up here and they usually treat you right if you treat them right. At least at that price you can afford to spend a little extra time on these trucks and the fleet manager that hired you will be pleased with his new vendor, bragging about how smart he was to hire a good company like you, not to mention what a great impression others will have of his company as well!
