Thumbs up How did YOUR business do this year?

It’s hard to believe that it’s October already. Before we know it, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving, and then in the blink of an eye, welcoming in a new year filled with excitement and hope for the upcoming season.

Looking back, how did your business do this year? Did your marketing work for you? Do you want to fine-tune it or perhaps try something new? Are you thinking of expanding to new markets or perhaps just fine tune the message to the one you’re selling to now? Are you confident that your positioning is attractive to the target market you’re after?

Not a year goes by that I don’t adjust, add or omit something. As the market changes and consumers change, so too should we. Many of you have responded to the request I posted for zip code information. In fact, I was overwhelmed to see so many of you respond. While I’m not 100% done yet, I’ll have a good bit of it ready for the PWNA at the end of the month in Pittsburgh. Why did I need it? Easy. Demographics. I can’t speak to them, if I don’t have supporting data, at least, not with any meaningful accuracy, and I didn’t want to present just theory. I wanted to be able to give to you all, something tangible that you could walk away with.

I’ve been working on the seminar material for some time now. I’ve designed the materials with question and answer areas in certain sections for note taking. I have demographic examples, and samples of things like post cards and flyers. My goal is to leave you with materials that you’ll be able to refer back to time and again.

This past year many of you have challenged the PWNA. You’ve been real blunt about how you feel, and about the kinds of changes you want to see, right down to fees. All things take time. I for one have seen improvements and efforts being made to address the concerns of the membership. PWNA even went so far as to break down the pricing for the convention so that you could pick and choose what you need.

Now before anyone makes any financial comments, I want to be real up front with you all. I am not getting paid for speaking at the PWNA. I’m doing it because I strongly believe that if you are not part of the solution you are a part of the problem. I too wanted to see changes in the PWNA. Everyone has something to offer. Organizations are made up of volunteers, and this includes the membership as well as the board of directors and officers.

I hope to see your cheerful face bright and early (8:30) on Friday November 1st. (changed from Nov. 2nd) In closing I just want to say that supporting the PWNA by attending the seminars in Pittsburgh isn’t just about supporting the organization, but also about supporting each other and about networking, learning, and helping each other to grow and to become and continue to be successful.

Beth

p.s. Will You be there????
