Default Help Wanted

Hi Guys & Gals,

I would like to thank everyone who posts here. I am starting a pressure washing service
in the Dallas area and since I have been hanging out here, I have really learned a lot
from all of you, but still have more to learn. Starting out I am focusing
primarily on residential work, house washing, patios, porches, walks, driveways,
fences and decks.

I know there are several PW schools around and video courses available for this
type of work, but most are somewhat expenseve and not sure about the quality of
training they provide. Since I am trying to get started on a limited budget, I cant
justify investing a lot of money on schools or courses, not knowing if they would be
benificial or not. Any posts on personal experiences you have had with schools
or video courses would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any video courses that are just setting around collecting dust,
that you are willing to part with?

Also, is there anyone in my part of the country who would be willing to
trade a few days of my labor in exchange for some hands on training and some of your
practical knowledge and experience? Your specialty doesn't have to be residential work, any
training/experience would be helpfull. I am willing to travel several hundred miles
from the Dallas area so you wouldn't have to be concerned about me being a competior.

Please email me if you have any training material to share/sell or are willing to trade
your knowledge/experience for labor.

Thanks in advance,

Roger

Hi Roger,
If you haven't already done so you can do a search and find some posts about schools and videos (I believe)
also look through member profiles, you will see that there are a few Texans here including Dan Flynn who runs the board.

hi roger,

two cheaper courses you may want to consider for wood restoration are:

wood iron woodiron.com

sashco sashco.com

both of these classes are under 500 dollars. Both classes are in Denver,CO.

If you have a lot of money to spend, go to restorewood.com and look in to Tim Cross' class in Milwaukee. i have no doubt this would be the best of all that are available. He knows his stuff and won't be trying to sell you a franchise. good luck

I second the Tim Cross choice. If you are worried about getting a lot for your money. Don't; you'll be years ahead in restoration and marketing. He is one of the best I know, and a heck of a guy too.

If you get what you pay for it's not to much. You can come by me in the spring. I would be happy to help. Come right down 45 and get off at sawdust Or go to D elco's school right near you in Fort Worth their highly repected in the industry.

Hi JR Wood, Jon Fife & Dan Flyn

Thanks for the posts.

JR Wood,

I have done quiet if few searches and reading on here and found lots go good info
and some older posts related to training, just thought maybe someone might have
some info or personal experiences(good or bad) that hadn't already been posted.
I have tried to find other members from TX, but have only been able to look up
members profiles while they are online since the members directory is disabled.
The only Tx members I have run across so far are Dan from Houston and Richard
from Temple. A lot of members haven't provided their location so didnt know if any
of them were close to me or not.

Jon Fife,

Thanks for the links I will check into those.

Dan Flyn,

Thanks, I'll take you up on your offer and look forward to meeting and learning from you this spring. No matter what training I get between now and then I know I will learn a lot.
I'll take an afternoon and go to F.W. and check out xxxxx and see what they have to offer.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your input.
