Default HERO extension wand / extend-a-wand

I've read quite a bit here about the extendawand, and have looked over its website. Looks like a good product. My local supplier sells HERO brand washers and accessories. Has anyone used a HERO 24' aluminum extension wand? Does anyone know how it compares to the extendawand or to the less expensive units that sell from 95-130 dollars. My main concern is sturdyness.

Most people think of the yellow 24', but the blue one is the one to get. The yellow has 1 - 8' section made of fiberglass and the other 2 are aluminum. It bends/folds too easily. With the blue wand, though more expensive and heavier, the first two sections are fiberglass. It is much more flexible and less likely to break. Also, the yellow has 1/4" - the blue has 3/8, so the blue one will allow you to downstream using more than 50' of hose.

I bought mine from Northern over a year ago and I've been very happy with it. Check around for pricing though.

I wonder how straight the 8-24' from Northern is compared to the 12-24' that HERO sells? Seems like physics would cause the 12-24 to be more sturdy. Anyone used both?

Do you have any info on the Wooster Sherlock pole you mentioned?

Clean County is on a distinguished road

I Had three different 24' Extension wands over the years. The first one was the Yellow wand from Northern. I used it alot and I hated it because it bent like a rubber band when fully opened.

The second one was the Blue Wand also from Northern which cost about $50 more then the Yellow wand and it was much sturdier. Soon after I purchased the Extenda wand which I believe was $285. Pricey but definetly worth it. THis wand was very sturdy and when opened at 24' it might have swayed only about 2 inches. It also had the Pin lock system which is 10 times better then the twist lock the others had. Draw back here is every once in awhile the pin lock would slip out and the pole would slide back down and nearly fall out of my hands. This only happened a few times but it does give you quite a jolt. Still This wand is much easier to use then the others.

Then I bought the X-Jet.......................

Clean County,

Thanks for the input. Is the nozzle at the end of the blue Northern wand you have projecting at a 45 degree angle? If not, can I attach a spray flex to it? I do mostly vinyl siding, and I have to be careful to make sure the chemicals (and rinse) aren't coming from underneath. The extenda wand looks good, and is still an option, but you're right about it being pricey.
