Precautions/care for winter storage?

What do you recommend be done to keep a machine in good working order over the winter? My trailer will be sitting dormant for about three months.

I have twin RK-24 3000psi@5.5GPM hot water skids with Vanguard elec start 18hp engines. Trailer is stored in a non-heated garage.

I am just trying to make sure I don't have big problems in the spring when I go to pull it out.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

Mike, As long as you have your machines winterized and your batteries disconnected your machines should be fine by the time your ready to start up again. I would make sure you give your machines a new oil change and change you spark plugs and also charge you batteries right before your ready to get back to work. I also think that keeping your machines out of the weather at this time of year like your doing is also a good preventitive for other problems that could spring up by the time you start up next year. Try to keep it as warm as possible. Put some gas stablizer in the fuel. Evacuate the water from the pump and coils with air. Change the oil when you are ready to use it again. Engine and Pump. [In the pump put nondetergent 30wt]

<FONT COLOR="e87400">Hey Guys

About Winterrizing,,, I have always used antifreeze in my pumps and heater coils,, I never have been confident with simply blowing air through them,, maybe that is enough but always seems that some water comes out later,, never could figure that one out,, anyway is ther a cheap alternative to antifreeze that I can use,,also do any of you guys worry about your hoses freezing??

Thanks

Mike, if you keep your hoses coiled i would recommand blowing then out with air, water will settle in the bottom and when it freezes it expands and so does your hose come spring when it thaws there will probalby be a hole

Hey Mike,

I too, am in a non heated garage for the winter, however, I went to Sam's Club and got two space heaters. I have them both on timers. One goes on for an hour and shuts down and then the second one goes on for an hour. So they basically alternate.

So far I have had no problems. Since I do use a box trailer, when I'm out on cold nights doing hoods, I use a turbo heater blowing in the trailer and keep one door closed on the job. Evreything stays toasty. Before shutting down I pump antifreeze through my machine and lines, and put a little touch of the green stuff in my float tank.
