Advice Needed for Gutter Replacement Options

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to replace the gutters on my home and could use some guidance. The current gutters are old, leaking, and partially sagging, so I want something more durable and low-maintenance.

I’m trying to decide between aluminum, vinyl, and steel, but I’m unsure which offers the best long-term value for my area, which experiences heavy rain and occasional snow. Also, I’m debating whether to hire a professional or attempt a DIY replacement.

Has anyone here done gutter replacement recently? Any recommendations, tips, or warnings would be greatly appreciated!

For long-lasting gutters in your climate, aluminum is usually best—resists rust, handles snow, and needs little upkeep. Vinyl is cheaper but less durable, and steel can corrode. Pros make installation easier and more reliable, especially on multi-story roofs.
