Dan is correct, experience is a great teacher. That's why I laugh at these chemical salesmen that tell me how great their soap is and they've never washed a truck in their life. How would they know?!

Stay in touch and let us know how it goes washing out there, Papa!

Right now we have 10, but it varies between 10-11. They do get a lot of attention, both good and bad, I guess. But they've also gotten us a lot of business due to their appearance. We build them to be functional first because at the end of the day, "It's still just a wash truck", as the owner says. The photo with the trucks in a line was taken on a Saturday morning. We have the trucks ready to go when the drivers arrive to help with the chaos of everybody leaving at the same time, but as you might imagine it is still fun each weekend morning.

We do go through a few gallons per week, but we blend our own to help with the cost aspect. Still, as everyone has been finding out, the severe increases in chemical costs are really putting a stranglehold on our industry. Hopefully there is an end in site!

House wash mix help

i'm pretty new at fleet wash and i'm discovering chems. i experiment on my own truck...i've already etched my chrome wheels and whitened my alum trims...oh well, live and learn.

On customer rigs, I used wash&wax, it was ok. recently i've been using eacochem's fleet wash supreme, it works better, it's waxy on the finish, but if it dries at all, trouble.

I don't believe there is a brushless method even tho they say there is.

Can any of you share your best soap info?

[wsmile]Hey guys- I need some advice. I am using a soft wash All-Flo pump setup, and my house wash mix is as follows: 50 gallons water,10 gallons 12.5% SH,28 onnces Simple Cherry, 16 ounces, F-13. The results with a 7 minute dwell time are super-cobwebs bird droppings and of course algae gone.Gutters come out nice and white, add Cascade and windows come clean,no streaks.I would like to know if you think less Sh would be OK while still geting good results. This mix is applied directly, no dilution. Thanks for your opinions and experience

This may be an older thread but.
When we washed back home on weekend's we went out with 2 machine's running and 3 brushers. Soap we used was zep t-n-t. We use it from fleet washes to house gutters and Norfolk southern rail machines to heavy equipment. the stuff is OK to 2 step in some cases. Never needed to worry if it dried, if it did just rewet so the brusher can do his thing. On a hot day black trailers can start to dry before your done soaping it. I cant understand how you guys can use a soap that will cause damage if it dried wile watching out for overspray and keeping it off chrome before it dried. Ive only cleaned fleets one way so I don't really know.

On a average Saturday we had 2 guys go out and clean 3 vans at a couple hotels in the city, 3 others go clean 4 steel haulers, we then met up and did about 30- 45 beer semi's and trailers. If we met at the same time 2 guys would start to pull out every other semi wile 3 guys prepped the brushes, hoses and sorted key's . We then had 3 brushes go 2 on one side of the box, one guy did the cab. and the brushers would go to the other side. front row, back row, front row back row. The 2 guys on the wands 1 would wash the back row wile the other did the front. After this we all went out and did around 50+ school buses and vans in the same method. So 5 guy's 2 machines we did around 130 pieces on a Saturday from 7am to 4pm at 4 locations/setups. Sure this may be overkill to some but quality was great, every new customer was impressed with it. Coming it after they hired the "franchise mobile guys" who showed up by himeself and left with zebra stripes, soot and dirty wheels on everything, they understood " you get what you pay for" and were ok to pay a premium.
