Dog nail marks

I started on my first deck yesterday, my own of course, pressure treated pine. I have two dogs and after I got done washing and brightening, I could still see the nail mark from the dogs. This morning after it has had time to dry it looks better, brighter, and the marks aren't really visible. Will they show back up when I put the sealent on? Should I sand these areas? Also I have one board on the deck that is noticablly green, not mildew, from the factory green. Can anything be done about this or is this something that just happens?

I'll post some pictures for all to see when it is done. What type of sealent should be used on high traffic decks with dogs?

Thank you,

Josh Spoehr

If the nail marks are more like gouges in the wood (ie you can feel them) then sand with 60 grit paper. The newer ACQ PTP is very green, not much you can do about it.

Josh some claw marks cannot be removed no matter how much sanding is done. They are just too deep. dog marks are alot like hail marks. The scratch or dent (from hail) compresses the wood at that area some so you definitely see the marks after staining with an oil based stain. this is something you may just have to live with.
