Elephant Snot????

Looks good man. Quick questions...in your area is it mostly asphalt tile roofs? We have a ton of stone/spanish tile roofs out here.

Yes mostly Ashpalt Shingles, I do 95% Shingles. Have a 3600 square foot tile roof to estimate today though.

Be interested in hearing what you use for Spanish Tile....looking at some things for later this year or 2013 for "possible" roof cleaning added to our busy schedule

Has anyone tried Simex for roof cleaning? It is a green chemical which works with the sun.
Using Simex oxi one as the cleaner and then apply their sealer.
They give a 10 year warranty against mod regrowth on roofs, (don't know if this includes Florida)
We need to pass our roof cleaning contractors exam before adding roof cleaning, we are halfway through the reference book.

My guess is, being in Florida, it is some type of County license needed, like a plumber electrician etc. Once something catches on in Florida and they can figure how to tax it they do.

Yep, tell us about it.
It isn't Florida to be fair, it's Collier County and everyone needs a licence before they can do any work. The basic licence is very restrictive so if you want to provide services such as roof cleaning, grout sealing for instance you need to pass an exam that has nothing to do with the trade, it is about Florida business and law.
The test is set by Prometric, a 50 question, 2 hour exam and obviously they make a ton of money from this.
It is hard for us as we are from the u.k and don't understand tax laws here, but we will get there.
Silly thing is, we could drive 30 mins or so and be fine providing roof cleaning services, just not in Collier County
Crazy
Plus it'is only the business owner who has to take the exam, he can then send whoever he wants up on the roof to clean it.

Will do Doug...probably be later towards the end of summer about the roof questions.....I am just so darn busy these days. I seldom pick up the phone or get on it. June is already booked. New employee starts early July. I am getting another rig together also around June/July. Gonna be in TX in Dec....I have several people on my list that I want to visit....you being one of them.

Do you know something I don't about the Simex cleaner?
Let me know as we need to find a roof cleaning solution for when we pass our exam.
What do you find works the best for you?
We prefer to use green certified solutions, if you can recommend one.
