New equipment setup - advice wanted!

After reading a lot of post on this board and others, I am almost ready to purchase my "rig" and start my business. Before I do, I was hoping to hear what some of you think about it. Please make any suggestions that you think would be helpful or would be an improvement! I've learned a lot from you guys already and I'm certain that I will learn a lot more in the years ahead!

Enclosed Trailer - 7x14 (new! - can't find a good deal on used one!), tandem axles, electric brakes, side door - - - - $3550

. . . . . I'll have my business name and logo put on it.

Pressure Washer - "Black Max" from Wholesale Pressure Supply in Ellendale, TN. It has a 20 hp Vanguard engine, 2250 watt gen., General pump, 6gpm, 3500 psi., soap pick up line, Sch 80 pipe in heat coil, and two 14 gal. fuel tanks. - - - - $3899

150 feet of pressure hose, 150 feet of 3/4 contractors water hose.

Surface machine (not sure what kind - at least 18 inch).

300 gal. square poly tank in cage - $50 used.

This is just the basic setup, I know I have several other things to pick up, not to mention chemicals. So what do you think? I want to do this as professionally as I can, including professional training and certification when I'm able to get it. Any hints, suggestions, or warnings? I'm all ears!

Thanks,
David Williams

David,

I sent you an email a few weeks ago regarding some equipment I am selling. If you are going to pay $3500 for a 7x14 trailer, why don't you buy my truck for $4750?? For another 1,200 dollars (total of 5950) you get the back of it setup like what you need. 300gal tank, 3 Cox hose reels, hose rack, 200' hose, and it is already set up with all new products. The truck has a 14' box, new paint, new (not rebuilt) motor, many other new parts. Tires have 70% or tread left.

I am getting ready to post this stuff for sale, and since I don't owe money I suppose I can take my time. But i feel like this is a good deal, especially if you are willing to pay 3500 for a trailer. You should at least give me a call because I have A LOT of items that i am getting ready to sell. It would probably be well worth an afternoon of your time to come over and make me some offers.

Not quiting, but i'm going to be moving. I am going to grad school in Jan. and will be moving back to Missouri (springfield or stl). I am keeping my enclosed trailer along with enough equipment to work part-time should I choose to. I am mainly selling big items and extra small stuff. I am still keeping a PW, deckhand, airless, couple ladders, and of course all of my hand/construction tools that i've built up.

I'll start a new post with items I am selling...........or can I do that on this board?? I'll wait for an answer to this, then I'll post it.

Jon, sorry to hear you are moving. Actually I thought you might end up in Colorado, based on some email sharing we did a couple of months ago.

Have you posted a picture of your rig and / or equipment? If David is not interested, I may take a trip your way and look at.

Thanks Bill, if all of this goes through as planned, it will be a very positive move for me. Business is great, just getting the 7 yr. itch i suppose.

I'll try and post pics, but send me an email and i'll respond with a few pics.

Jon,
Can you post more (inside/outside) pictures of truck/equipment?
What is rated GVW capacity of truck empty/loaded with all your equip?
Able to tow trailer? Rated towing capacity?

Thanks,
Tim

For those interested. I have seen Jon's truck, inside and out. Better not waste any time it is well worth the money. I would also take advantage of the hose reel setup. I helped Jon with the design when he purchased the water tank from me a few months back.

Hey Mark,

The pump is a general 2021. My post should have said a 21 hp motor and not a 20. What's on your mind that you would ask about which pump? I'd appreciate any input you want to give.

David,

The General pump TS2021 / W2021 Interpump were for years rated at 5.6 GPM @ 3000 PSI maximum.

A few years ago General Pump re-rated the TS2021 pump to 5.6 GPN @ 3500 PSI.

It is a Good Pump, however I have never seen it produce more than 5.3 GPM @ 3500 PSI!

I doubt that it would deliver 6 GPM @ 3500 PSI for long.

(Just my two cents.)

I am not trying to knock the General TS2021, I am trying to clarify what you can expect from it performance wise though.

Check General pumps website for more info: http://www.generalpump.com/marketing_view.asp?series=T47S

Mark,

Thanks for the info. If the 2021 were actually delivering 6gpm @ 3500psi, does that imply that the PW mfg. has "tweaked" (by increasing the rpm?) the pump higher than intended by General Pumps? If yes, will this greatly affect the life of the pump?

If you were to run the TS2021 at a higher speed than its rated 1450 RPM,
it would theoretically achieve a higher GPM.

Do I recomend doing this? ABSOLUTELY NOT! It will shorten the life of the pump drastically.

Try a different pump for higher volume such as the AR model XW26.23
Rated at 6.87 GPM @ 1450 RPM and a max pressure at 6.87 GPM of 3400 PSI.

:)XW Series Pumps by AR North America
I would slow the pump down to around 1266 RPM which would give you 6 GPM at 3500 PSI NO PROBLEM

Providing you had the needed Horsepower, a 20 HP Vanguard will barely be able to pull a 2250 watt generator and deliver 6.0 GPM @ 3500 PSI.

6 GPM @ 3000 PSI sure it will do that.

Dont take my word for it call General pump or AR North America and ask them.
