Hey I am a college student starting up a half time power washing biz. I have spent the last 3 years as the head forman for a boat washing company. We used a power washer to wash the boats and power washed probally 25 houses on the side. So far the web site has been a big help! If any one would be willing to send me a sample flyer that would be great. THanks!

ps will i be able to post in the business forum??

Hello, my name is rich
I have a small handyman biz
once was construction
then home rennovations
then painter
now I've found a bit more fun w my 2500/ 2 1/2 5hp washer

and thought I might upgrade to do a better job of prep work faster

Wow!

So far I've gotten a 3 day online education of how powerwashing should be done properly and profitably.

Any advice about my first pressure washer upgrade, technique or chemicals would be greatly appreciated.

I DO like to read price quotes and logic behind estimating.
Don't want to expand my biz and cut other people's throat by lowball

just not worth it

no matter what i charge, the end client gets a far greater return for their investment in my services.

tnx !

Welcome Rich

As far as upgrades in the cold water 4 gpm range
I am partial to the Cool Drive pressure washer.

Use the search feature at top of page, search
for "Cool Drive" and or: chemical application etc.

The answers are here if you look! [hello]

Hello everyone. My name is Mark McMaster and from Ontario Canada. Just lurking around the boards and figured I'd should join. You won't learn anything unless you ask. I'm as green as they come when it comes to pw. I'm a machinist but also do Tile and Grout cleaning and moving into that full time here in the next week or two. I can do concrete as well with my Turbo but nothing like the flat surface cleaners that are out there and this has really caught my attention as a great add on for my biz. Please be patient with my questions as I'll be busy at first around reading and searching.

Thanks and have a good one. Mark

Hello to everyone,

This board is a great place to learn things. thank you!

Have been in construction for many moons. Mostly remodels and additions.
Spent the last 5 new construction painting.
But can't compete w migrant labor so we did all the fix-its they, and others created.
and, we speak english which was a big help w the clients.
then we took over all the dwall repairs in the tracts and that grew to doing
even more of the pickup, "because I can," and have all the tools for most of the trades, collected over the years...
Took the business to the largest in our small piece of the state.
Started our own biz again after a nasty divorce and now we're doing rennovations, handyman work, carpentry, painting, andmore and more pressure washing.
I always work w my wife... i like her, and she's the hardest worker I ever wanted to be around! Always nervous abt hiring helper not sure I can trust.
Only prob w wife is she thinks biz decisions are a democracy.

So far I like the pressure washing a lot!

May buy a better cold machine than the 2500 2.5g 5hp have now based on what I have learned from these threads. Want to do residential & commercial buildings.
storefronts, that is.

Need to learn more abt reclaiming water... here in CA that is a major biggie

Thanks to all.
Appreciate your help, and always glad to offer my 2c if it could help someone.

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris and I started teaching in 1999. After my first year I realized that I would have to do something on the side to supplement my income. A general contractor friend of mine recommended power washing, since most of the homes in Ocean City, NJ were vinyl sided, with vinyl rails, fences and fiberglass decks. I started my business in the spring of 2001. By 2003 my side business began generating more income than my teaching job. 90% of what I clean are 4000 sq. ft. vinyl sided duplexes with 2 fiberglass decks on the front and on the rear. I look forward to learning and helping others on this site in the future.
