Was the machine covered?
What kind of oil did you put in it?
Does the pump leak water under the head?

The antifreeze could have seeped thru the oil seals on the pump. As for the motor I don't think so. But if the oil looks the same as in the pump, I would check the Quality of oil used and how the moisture got in both. Rain, dew, ice, snow, ect.
The pump and motor use different types of oil. The motor uses a detergent type 30wt or 10w40 and the pump uses NONDETERGENT 30wt oil. If you use Detergent oil in the pump it will turn white but, not from water. The detergent oil will bubble and churn and look like water is in it because the oil has almost no pressure in the pump and a vent breather hole in the top. That vent stops the oil seals from blowing out and draws air into the pump for cooling purposes. It will also draw in water . That is why you never spray your pump off with water. The only time you can is when you want to clean it off and immediately change the oil.

I have this problem exactly. The guy I bought it from just had the oil changed and the service guy may have put in detergent oil.

Is there a way to tell the difference between water in the oil and detergent oil being used?

Obviously, I will be changing the oil, but do I need to do anything else? (flush pump, more frequent oil changes, etc...)

Thanks,
Joel

P.S. See everyone the search button does work. I found this post from almost 5 YEARS ago!

Joel,

I would just change the pump oil
and then monitor its condition.

:) [hello]

Thanks Mark,

I wasn't sure if I needed to flush that old detergent oil out with something.

I'll keep an eye on it.

I don't know what pump you have so I'll just go with this.

My ez3040 pump was getting water in it once. I went to my repair shop to ask a pro and he said the oil fill caps on the ez3040s were bad and gave me a new one.

Never had a problem since.
