Pave Clean Demo

I was curious about Pave Clean. So I demo'ed it myself. The goal was to see if it actually worked, or if it was a cover up. So here is the before picture.

The second picture is an after picture. You will notice that I split the oil spot right down the middle, and I was doing it on Red Pavers, versus Concrete. There are a few dark spots from where I RINSED, with little to no pressure, the pave clean powder off. I did not follow their directions when I applied the pave clean. I dusted it on, and brushed it with a soft bristle brush, and then rinsed it off. The rinsing I chose rinsing over sweeping was to get the pave clean out of the cracks of the pavers.

Remember, this is pretty unbiased, because I do very little flat work.

What's your honest opinion of it Scott? I feel it's crap. I never seen it in person but from the pictures I feel it's a joke based on the way they market it.

You will never see a before and after picture like we have seen from you and Jon on their web site. Plus if they marketed it as an aid or something like that it would be some what understandable... but they market it as a perfect solution.

I feel it make a mess messier. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I dont think they claim it is a one application solution..............one of us needs to try it several applications, over time, on the same stain..........to get an honest opinion of it.

It's foolish to blast a product you have never even seen.

Personally, I just dont have the time to do it.........but I hope someone will.

Mike I agree with you to a point. But if you read their site it says nothing about several applications. It indicates one easy process with a miracle result.

Their web site like it or not is very miss leading and if you ask me fraudulent. This would not be an issue if they even indicated a fraction of what your saying, but they don't.

And really how many customers do you know that will have the patience to let you come back so many times to finally see some results, and how much would they be willing to pay you because of all the times you had to go back to get the surface looking right when using this product??

I have the same feeling with Gum Busters. Another product that claims to do something but doesn't actually clean the surface.

Remember I said FEELING. but we all know what they say"If its to good to be true then..."

I was honestly surprised at how well it worked. I am going to do some more testing of it, with before and after pictures in teh near future. If you look at teh after picture there is a pretty distinct line were the pave clean was used vs. where it wasn't. I did it that way on purpose. I also used it on the red pavers because i wanted to see if it was nothing more than a cover up. It my opinion, and from what I saw it isn't a cover up. I will give my final opinion after I do a little more testing on it.

How long was the DWELL time of the pave clean?
Next time maybe you could compare it to reg. kitty litter type oil absorber.
I thought there claim to fame was NOT to use water so it was better for the envrioment?
I would guess the kitty litter will be bigger pieces and not suck up as much oil or do it as easy as the pave clean.
Clean county, if the GUM BUSTER your thinking of is what im thinking of. Then its a wash unit,
not a chem. It's big bucks and not ment to do anything but remove gum with very, very little water. Im pretty sure it has a 1/8 th inc tip good for about 1 inc off the cement. High pressure chem and steam.

I havent really read they're website.........but at the demo I went to, and speaking to the owner of the company himself, neither one of those guys ever called it a once and done deal.

Well that's all fine and good. But that still doesn't change that fact that their site is misleading. It's sounds like you thought they were pretty good guys when you met them.

Well I think they sound be straight forword with their product and it's intent. Then yes it may have some use in the industry in some way.

The dwell time on the pave clean was no more than a couple of
minutes. I did not use any pressure on the concrete, or the pavers. I used a dual lance wand that was open to rinse off the powder, mainly because I did not have a broom handy.

Dear Scott:

I came across your thread on this posting after doing some research on concrete cleaning products. I also have come across a product called Oil Away that looks the same as PaveClean. Have you ever used it? Anyone on this network that has, I'd be interested in your comments!

Thanks!

I'm sorry, but was there an after picture somewhere that I missed?

The two pictures on this thread, other than being two different areas, shows absolutely no difference.

I would have a stroke if I tried to pass this off as an achievement.
