Reflective Lettering

Hi All,

A week or two ago, someone on one of the BBS was wanting a picture of sign letters that would show up at night when lights hit them. I searched quite a while but couldn't find the thread so I thought I would post it here. Maybe they'll see it.

The picture was taken at night, no lights anywhere except the flash from the camera. BTW, the letters are a medium blue, not white!

How to reduce picture size?

I noticed that the picture came out fairly blurred after I reduced it to fit the board. Anybody using Corel Photo House or MGI Photo Suite know how to reduce an image without losing quality?

Edited later. . .

OK, I managed to reduce the image above in MGI, keep it fairly clear, and repost it. Now I'd like to know how to get an image that is bigger, but still within the BB limits. Any suggestions? Is it a trade off between image size and quality?

tank lite

david.
i think it was jon orr, he was after a system to light up his tank of a night by putting something inside and i suggested he put on reflective lettering to save all the hassle, but i think he missed it as it is easy to loose thread if you miss a day or two.

the post in a nut shell

Ron: Thank you. Its compact size was one of its most important features. It is exactly the right size for me.

Paul: I hadn't thought about pics on the tank...I'll have to check into that. Right now, I'm trying to figure out a way to light the inside of the tank to backlight the lettering!

One option might be a sealed light in a 2nd top cap that you can wire in from the tail light. Fiber optics could work there also. (Kind of an aquarium affect.)

Another option may be a light under the tank thru the bottom of the trailer.

Or you could light from the outside - bottom to top (give you the Boris Karlof look).

Good Luck!

Regards,

you can get reflective type lettering, ie when headlights shine on them.....saves all the hassle of rigging something up and it would be a safety thing aswell.

i am sure one of the posters on these boards has them on his tank allready.

cheers paul.

Mel,

I'm still in the early stages of starting up. I live in a very rural area and have only done 4 or 5 jobs. I'm not full time but am working with that as my goal. As far as responses to the lettering, not many people have had the opportunity to see it. I've not yet even had a single phone call on my new "business line"! The new phone book will be out in December and I hope the yellow pages will help bring in a little work.
