The "new" PWNA?

I recently received an e-letter from the PWNA concerning a "changing of the guard", and their new direction. I have not kept up with this association, but from the tone of the letter, it looks like they had some internal strife. And possibly some mismanagement from the directing staff.

Some time ago I had thought about joining this group, and involved myself in the forums regularly. They stopped allowing non-members to join the forums, and I started getting the feeling it (PWNA) was becoming a clique of Eastern seaboard contractors. Unfortunately, I saw a need in our industry to have a larger presence and influence around the country, showing a united front among reputable contractors. I simply could not bring myself to paying a membership fee that may only serve those in the "inner circle".

Now, the interim director is closer to our market and they plan to have the annual convention in Elgin, Il. which would work well for me both in timing and location. I definitely see a benefit in the seminars. However, my experience with conventions is that you can learn plenty just by networking with the "established" contractors during breaks and the evenings.

Are there any current members out there that could offer some insight as to what has transpired in the past, and what the new direction and commitment might be now? Is there a benefit in belonging other than reduced pricing for a convention? Are there others out there with the same experience, and are you considering joining now? Any & all input is appreciated!

Okay :)

The single largest reason that we won't be re-joining any time soon is because the
same people that crashed that train the first time are back in the driver's seat.
Talk is cheap.

I believe that with The UAMCC being turned over
to Power Wash Contractors, that it will be the
association to go with!

See posts about UAMCC on this board.

Mark - appreciate your comment(s) and observation(s) as it relates to the UAmCc organization. We are looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.

Regarding the questions about the PWNA.....I dont know what went on with the organization or what is going on with it today. I want to believe that they are picking up the pieces and reassembling the organization. Time will tell I guess.
