Xjet

Hello to all,

I recently tried out my xjet that I finally purchased about a week ago.

I have a few questions. I read the instructions and decide to play with it last night on my own home. I have a 3000 psi 5 gpm hot/cold

Why did the xjet empty a five gallon bucket in about 3 min?. I did not use any of the little proportioners that came with it and believe this is why it went so fast. I am still learning this bus. such as the draw rates, ratio's and proportioners.

I read my instructions and came back to the past post to read up on the xjet.

If I do not use any of the proportioners and use the jet wide open, the xjet will spray 2:1 ratio. Does this mean for ever two gallons of water it will use 1 gallon of cleaning solutions?

By using it wide open I see that I will go thru much more chemicals than using my downstream injector. I know that downstreaming dilutes the chems and decrease the cleaning power am I correct? I use a extension wand on housecleaning and think this xjet will help me cut down on time spent cleaning the homes.

I think I really need to mix my limolene per instructions but it say to use 1/2 pound to per gallon and I guesstimate the mixiing sins I do not have a scaleand this is probably why I have to use my tips to pressure wash the siding.

I read on the BB's that guys use their xjets, spray ;et dwell and then rinse off. They say the chems does all the work. I am still trying to figure out how that works to eliminate having to clean each row with tips.

Any help this board can give me concerning the cleaning and the xjet techninques I would be greatful.

I know this should be something that I should comprehend but I guess I started on my own and still much to learn.

You might want to give Steve Rowlett a call at 1-800-357-6295.

He hooked me up with his Citracleen Housewash Mix and Gutter Shock product.

This stuff is the bomb for doing houses. Dirt, mildew, and algae just melts right off. I use it, I've seen Steve use it, and I know it works.

For a 5.0 GPM machine you would mix up in a 5 gallon bucket:

3 quarts of Citracleen
1.5 gallons of 12.5% sodium hypochlorate
5 ounces of foamer
5 ounces of rinse aid
3 ounces of wet wax
top off with water.

Just spray on a light coating and rinse with x-jet. Simple as that.

On a house 1500-2000 square foot house you should use less than 15 gallons of mix.

Your X-jet is performing as designed....to inject a high ratio of "soap" 30 to 40 feet....

My machine last time I tested it will empty 5 gals. between 35 to 45 sec. with no proportioner and a 3/8's line.

Do a search function on this board and others on the X-jet...you will find several hours of reading that will be a great education.

Bob: What size machine are you running?? on a 5gpm machine, the ratio is about 2:1, meaning it should drain a 5 gallon bucket in 2 minutes.

degafreed:

Toss the proportioners...It is much easier to simply adjust your chem mix as needed and use the Xjet wide open.

What are you cleaning? With brick and some block, I've found I need a bit of pressure to clean. On vinyl, painted wood, stucco, hardiboard, etc I just let the chems dwell a few minutes and rinse very very low pressure. I use a 2515 tip to rinse.

I used to use espec's Limonene soap, but didn't like the results. I've been using citracleen for a while now and love it. Big difference. I have 1/2 drum of limonene if you want it... :)

Mike.

Am running 5.6/3500....been a while since I did my test...I have CRS disease.
Maybe the 30 to 40 secs was for 1 gallon....then I was multiplying.
Seems I was trying different porportioners to see the differences in draw.
Anyway...Like you said....wide open makes it simple...

30 seconds sounds about right for a 5.6gpm machine. Same as I've got, and the draw is 2.2:1, so roughly 2.5 gallons of chems/minute, or about 25 seconds/gallon.

PINK 280.-1 383.-1 500.-1 480.-1 766.-1

Personally I like the silly little proportioners even though they are a PITA.

1. Lower draw rate = more application range

2. Less chemicals to pre-mix and tote around. That water gets heavy.

Also if your ratio is a bit off, you can change up the orifice size by using a specific size drill for more exact mix.

Nozzle Color: Drill No.
Gray 30
Black 40
Beige 50
Red 55
White 57
Blue 60
Tan 65
Green 70
Orange 72
Brown 74
Yellow 76
Aqua 77
Purple 79
Pink 87
Clear PLUG OR CUSTOM DRILL

Lets say your runnign a chemical that the proper dilution is 15:1 on a 5.0 GPM machine. Red is 20:1 and has a size 55 drill bit while beige is 13:1. You may want to drill a custom nozzle with say a 52 or 53 drill bit to give you the proper ratio.

God what a pain in the ass...If you want 15:1, just add water to your mix...I could see in very rare cases where it would be easier to use a proportioner, but for your typical house and/or roof washes, no way. Mix your chems accordingly, and you can toss the proportioners.
