Hi, I just started my business. I was originally focused on window washing but have had a good go at house cleaning. I just got my first major commercial bid. It came out to $10,150. I was wondering if anyone could help determine if this was good figure or not. I guess the customer will help me early next week when they call to tell me whether or not they accept. Anyway the bid was for a resort near a lake. Lots of mold/mildew etc. There are 29 buildings that are three stories each. I don't know how to tell you exactly what size they are. They are probably 100 ft wide and three stories like I said. The bid was for both sides of each, the front, and the back for free. I quoted them at 150 per side since they said thats really all they wanted cleaned but that they were interested in a quote for the whole of each building so I said if they wanted I could do the fronts for 50 and throw in the back for free if they accepted. This is a new customer and I wanted to offer them something for their money. The total bid for the sides only was $8,700 I am thinking that if they don't accept either bid I will tell them that I can do the whole job for the lesser price. What do you guys think? Also will bleach harm stucco?? There are 18'' bands of painted stucco on each floor. I am worried about the bleach harming the paint on the stucco. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Just my input here based on the little info.. If the buildings are 100'x60' and three stories you can probably get 2 done per day with a lift and three helpers (and a second machine). My numbers would be Lift rental $3000, Labor $2500, Chemicals $4,500, gas $500, fixed expenses (workman's comp, liability insurance, advertising etc) $1800. For 14 working days my cut would be another $4500.

That's $16,800. To allow for problems, rain days, extra rental and labor fees I would bid $18,500.

Cut out the lift and the extra crew and you'll be lucky to get it done in a month (as a newbie). This going to be a real eye opening experience for you. Do a test spot with your chemicals so you don't have to mess around with dilution ratios.
