Black on window seals on campers

A friend of mine asked me to help him take his camper in to the dealership for service. While there he asked them to remove some black (looks like mold) from the rubber seals which suround his windows on his camper. Looks like its only on the seals, mayby oil from the rubber making the marks? They would not touch it because they said they had to use harsh cleaners that could ruin the decals on his camper. Anybodyknow what I can use to clean this rubber?

Yes I know exactly what you are talking about. And the only way I found to remove them is to take them off. It's not that hard just pry them out. Just start in one corner and work your way around. Then place them in a bucket with a 1:1 solution of bleach. Let it soak over night. The next day they will be brand new looking. Then just snap them back in place again.

Thanks for the input but I doubt if he will go that route. I will tell him but I bet he will be afraid that by doing this he will cause leaks aroung his windows. I was wondering if applying bleach full strength with a tooth brush would work if the glass was kept wet?

Try a mix of Simple Green and water mixed 50/50 in a small bucket with a hand brush.

Just brush the crud off and rinse with a garden hose. If that doesn't work then you will need to use a sodium hydroxide based cleaner.

If you're going to succeed in this business, you need to use the tools and searches that are available, and get on the job. If you wait too long, opportunities will pass you by.
