RE: All the housewashing estimates

It seems as though all the housewashing estimates posted or given in response to requests for pricing help, include the house & sometimes an extra amount for the gutters.
Nothing is mentioned about the roofs. Are everybody's quotes including the roofs?
Looking at some of the pictures posted I don't see how you can do dormers and chimneys without streaking the adjoining roof material. Once the cleaning solution is on the roof (from washing the dormers/chimneys) it would seem like you have to wash the entire roof.

Would somebody and/or everybody explain

Thanks

Dennis,

Where I live, 95% of homes have asphalt shingles which are unaffected by our house washing procedures.....I have never stained a roof.

If it were a cedar shake roof, then we might have trouble, but I have never had to wash a roof, ever.

Mike,

Several posts indicate and at least one training source recommend using a bleach enhanced solution for house wash. Even if you don't use bleach I think all house washes have some type of mildicide & fungicide. When that runs down the chimney and dormers onto asphalt shingle roofs it's going to streak (i.e. "clean") the asphalt shingles.
Every house I've seen that is a candidate for washing is a candidate for roof cleaning, although not necessarily the other way around.

What are you washing houses with?

Thanks

Dennis,

The amount of bleach you would use to clean siding is nowhere near the concentration it would have to be to streak a roof. It will never be a problem.

I do use bleach in my mixture, but where I'm from, the roofs are never dirty. There are parts of the country where roofs get very moldy/mildewed, etc......but not where I'm from. Bleach has never streaked a roof on me.....

I have a house to clean with fabric awnings. Any ideas on what to use that won't harm the fabric awnings ? The substrate is painted wood. The awnings are only mildly dirty. Thanks folks !
