Anyone fix their own hoses? I'm looking for the tool to fix them, tired of getting ripped when I take them in for repair, the one time I did...

The Hoseman hosed me!!

Are you talking about high pressure hoses? If so, the equipment to make the repair is probably more expensive than you would want to spend.

I've also found that hose repairs generally don't last long. Once the rubber coating has been compromised, and water gets inside, the wire braiding starts to rust. Then it's all over. For that reason, I usually only buy 50 foot lengths, and connect them together as needed. It's cheaper to throw away a 50 footer than a 100+ footer when they blow out.

Also, the best time to stock up on spare hoses is during winter time, when many vendors are looking to clear out inventory before the end of the year.

I have one of those Hand Crimping system-they are OK but they will give you a workout-I will sell you mine.

I went out last year and invested in a used Parker Karrykrimp along with Parker fitting and I love it. I have yet to have one of my fittings blow. A item like this can have a major impact on your bottom line. I would look around for a used one-have a look at them at parker.com. They run around $1200 new-well worth it.

I use reusable ends. Screw them in, and they last for as long as the hose does. You just need to make sure that they are all the way in. I had a brand new hose from XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX that blew the end off, I put a reusable end on it, and it lasted for as long as the hose did.
