Hello everyone. Here I am again tired of working for someone else I have decided to go into the business. I am brand new I have all the typical newbie questions.....equipment pricing chemicals...and SCHOOL....Where should I get my schooling?

Another question is how does everyone feel about buying a franchise or buying trademark/license use of an existing multilocation Pressure wash business. Both involve paying a percentage of your earnings and I do see the advantege of having an established company behind you.

I read old post about "KEVIN" well I am the new Kevin only I am 33 and a father and now I want to call the shots in my career. I am all ears my friends let me have it the good the bad the ugly the dollar$ and $en$e of it all. I live on an Island in the Caribbean, and other than Juan and Pedro with the walmart special I don't think there are too many professional cleaners here on the Island.

Bottom line how much did it cost you to get started everything included.

Research

Read all you can on these boards. Use the search feature and you can get hundreds of questions answered. You can also get many opinions about the same question. It is very helpful usually.
It is hard to say how much start up costs may be. It depends on how professional you intend to be. Equipment costs alone will be upwards of $10-12, 000. Then there is insurance and licensing. Fuel is an ongoing expense that can be a drag on your cash flow.
You can make money if you find your niche in the market. Do the research on that before you buy too much equipment. You may develop into a new niche after you begin, but at least have an idea when you start.
Good luck.

The problem with some franchises is they often don't have the greatest reputation. The general public may know the name of the company or recognize the trademark, but they associate it with poor quality work.

First year in full time we put in about $9k of equipment and another $5k for advertising and insurance. $7k(hotwater machine, reels, hoses, surface cleaner, tool box etc.) was initial set up of rig, then $2k for chems, and extra parts and the like.

9K is on the low side...... I would buy quality up front.... In the long run it is worth it....

9k is plenty of capitol to get the right equipment for a startup. A lot of the cost depends on how handy you are in setting up your own rig, or buying one ready to roll.
