Water Restrictions :(

We are having water restrictions everywhere! We have called the water authority and they have said if it is part of your business then we can wash. The problem is the home owner does not want to use the extra water. Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Hi!
We went through that last summer here in Maryland too. The phones went dead, the ads stopped working - the strangest thing happened...all the business we got during the drought was from referral business, and we still managed to be booked out 2 weeks. I think people will think about those who are self employed...I hope this happens for you the way it did for us!

Den I sure wish I could help you. Up here in New York if we get one day in a row without rain we're happy. It's been that kind of spring so far. I've got decks that I washed in early May that are ready for sealing but it just won't quit raining long enough for them to dry out.We had our drought and water restrictions last summer so I know what you are going through. All I can say is keep the faith and eventually you will get that much needed rain. Good luck. Rick

Like Rick we have had more rain in the last month than we will probably have for the rest of the year. In the chicagoland area your lucky to get 2 dry days a week...just as the decks dry out it rains again. I would be happy to send some your way

How about using your own water not the customers water. Use a 300 gallon tank to take water to the job and tell the customer that you have special permission to use this water for cleaning purposes only.

Greg,
Send your rain West, all the ways to Calif. skip AZ as Scott likes it hot and dry

Now as to Dennis and Gloria, I assume you have some sort of written papers saying it is ok if your business requires water.

If so take that with you and show your customers, ask them if they have any doubts to call whatever department allows you to use water and verify it.

Wonder what I will do if and when Calif. has another dry spell? Not something I truly want to experience having read enough of what all you people go though.

Yeah, Sure, Scott does like it hot and dry, however, do you know how smellt garbage trucks get when it is 112 out side? I am with you Dennis. We are in a long dry spell as well. As usual, California is hogging it all then sending it to Vegas along with their money.

Hey Dennis,
I agree with "The Wizard".
Take your own water to the job. We generally charge a $25.00 water fee for hauling water to the site. Water is heavy, gas is expensive; and it takes time to fill a tank.
Cheers,
Ron Xterior

Taking the water to the site is a fine idea, but where are THEY going to get the water?

I thought of this last year when we had a drought......but I could not find anywhere to get the water myself.

Some cities issue permits to fill up from fire hydrants.

If it gets much worse here - I'm gonna go over to Ron and get his water!

Good Luck!
