Hello everyone,
Had a customer ask me if I had ever used X-100 from American Building Products. She had used some on her front steps and liked it. It had a nice color to it. Have any of you used it? I never had heard of the stuff before, is it any good? Thanks for your responses!

I have never used it, but one of my competitors does for many many years now. I get called to do his old decks all the time.........which tells me something.

And when I do go and look at those decks, which were sealed two years prior, I do not like the way they look. I dont think the product holds up real well. I'm sure it looks nice when its fresh, but man it looks terrible at the end........

Also.......I hear its pretty expensive.

I have used it on a couple jobs. The product does have a nice appearance to it. It almost glistens after your done. You have to watch for laps and runs because they will show through the finish. We use it on 2 jobs where we recoat. The customers had the finish and wanted to stick with it to save the stripping costs. It lasts about a year from my experience. Cost?? $125 for 5 gallons

I used the stuff a few years ago but got called back by both customers I used the product on. Did not hold up long at all. Less than a year in fact. Like Mike, I get calls all the time from previous contractors who used this on the customers decks. It's very expensive too! No thanks!
