Supposedly now this is basically on Parking Garage cement which is one of the hardest cement around a Zero tip on a machine such as Jim Gambles is a way to clean this garages. I know Bill Clemmons with his Swabby machines and other machines he built for Parking Garage cleaning he would use a zero degree tip because of the speed of the Bars and the fact that you were turning into the spray was a better way to clean that very hard cement at a faster pace.

Since I own a Swabby I tried the o degree tip just briefly. But keep in mind I was never hired to Clean and then re-coat a parking garage so for me the 15 degree tip worked best. Maybe even a 10 degree tip would be better but the 15 degree tip is such a common tip I just mass order them.

Off topic for a second. We do use 0 degree tips to rinse high parts of houses or building of the chemicals that are on them so I can't say we never use a 0 degree tip in our cleaning process.

This is an interesting topic for parking garages but do the math. If your cleaning with the typical 3500 psi hot water machine the most pressure by any tip to hit the surface on the parking garage floor is the 0 degree tip. If your bar is spinning into the spray at a high rate of speed and the 0 degree tip is not going to penetrate that very strong Concrete then it makes sense with high heat why a 0 degree tip can work..But never on a surface machine that is water driven. It just won't work correctly.

Now take what Jim Gamble does who uses a 0 degree tip I think I can clean faster with a 15 degree tip on my swabby...but he may very well be getting the garage floors much cleaner then I do because he is using high heat and he is hitting that concrete with tremendous pressure which Jim Gamble knows how much pressure he can hit them with. He also gets alot more per sq' then I do so as the saying goes the company that hires us gets what the paid for. On a 500,000 sq' garage I'll get between $25,000-$30,000 where as Jim will get a near if not over a $100,000 for. Sounds insane but he has a way to get those prices and in turn he gives those garages as about as deep as a clean as they can get and he has the equipment to handle what he does.

He also reclaims at the highest form. We dam and berm drains and use screens and vacuums in picking up the sludge and we let clean water go down those storm drains once the dirty water is filtered thru. Is what I do legal?? Probably because its the lowest form of reclaiming but once again its no where near what Jim does.

Interesting John. The swabby is a sweet method to knock out a garage.

Jim I have to acknowledge you on this one!!

Never say never guys!! You have to know the conditions upon which to use zero degree nozzles.

Sorry I could not get to this earlier. Carlos I also cannot see my thumbnail photos in the manage attachment section.

The lower photo taken of a dumpster pad area concrete before cleaning, the concrete I estimated is 20 years old, seems very hard. This is oils from the trash truck, not sure what type.

Same machine 8 gpm at 180F no chems,

the surface cleaners different, upper photo,

left side BE Whirl-A-Way 18" 3 arm 0003.0 tips pump head read 3600 psi, (fair amount of flow escaped the swivel weep hole)

2 inches of uncleaned space between (for reference),

Right side 30" mosmatic 3 arm 1503 tips, pump head read 3200 psi.

Both via 200ft of 1/2 hose same machine.

p.s I did not have to crawl with the 18"

Hey Nigel, do you see any flow issues going from 1/2 in to 3/8 hose on your 30 inch SC. I see the 1/2 hose on the 18" SC ? Great thread ! Regards

Here are our surface cleaners. The blue one is a turbo twister at 36 inches. Modified with a 13 hp at about 3,600 to 4,000 RPM's

The other is a steel eagle 30 inch.

Both have 0 degree tips.

Hey Jeff.

The 18 surface cleaner is a BE or commonly called Whirl-A-Way, it has 3/8 hose from the gun to swivel from factory.
The mosmatic has 1/4" hose from factory.

I know some that have changed the mosmatic to a bigger size, but I think the 1/4" on the mosmatic may have something to do with streamlining the flow, the opening in the seal face is about 1/4" so it makes sence on paper.

Na, not today. [spin]

Another point that Nigel and I discussed was that by using 0 degree nozzles, you have lees of heat loss vs a 25 or even a 15 degree.

0 degree are aggressive, don't get me wrong. But that's what makes them clean so good.

There is an attachment for using turbo nozzles for our surface cleaners. Never used them because of our heat issue,

How to post pictures on PWN or other VB Bulletin sites.

Probably your security settings on PhotoBucket. If you have that folder locked with a password. I set-up multible PhotoBucket accounts and on our main Grime Busters PhotoBucket site, some are not locked (the ones my local "competitors" can not attempt to steal work from me) and others are locked and require passwords.

Be aware there is a small percentage of scandilous "contrators" out there that will "cruise" you public photo albulms in an attempt to silicite your customers. Dispicable... yes, but unfortunately a reality, especially with a couple in my market. PhotoBucket sends me a report when individuals access my account and I receive IP addresses, date s and activity reports automatically.

Been really busy. To much work. Have a job in stanford that I am working on.

Tried to paste in Photobucket link. Site will not let me.

Please advise.

I use a roto nozzle or surface cleaner depending on the size of the area to be cleaned like Pat said from HydroJet Power Washing.

I lost to a Bank job and the outfit used a 0 deg.
When I stopped in a month or two later the Manager said, "Mike, did you look at the entryway? It looks like someone wrote a letter all over the concrete out there! "I called Corporate...I'm livid!" ...She said. "Your it next time Mike regardless of price... I want it done right!"
