We use caustic cleaners for cleaning grease on kitchen exhaust systems. Because of the expense I was wondering if anyone has any information on where to order chemicals or how to mix your own useing sodium beads.

The best is to find a local Chem. shop.?

I don't find that to always be the best option. There are many dealers that will sell 55 gal. "kits". These are very cost effective. I can get a better product from a company that is 400 miles away buying a kit than I can from a local dealer; saving about $2-$3 per gallon (even with shipping).

Caustic Soda Beads

Anyone have experience using Caustic Soda Beads? I'm wondering if that is all you need to do or do you have to mix it with something else before using. And how well does it work.
Also, I've found it for $275.00 per 250 pounds that is mixed 1 to 2 cups slowly to 2 gallons cold water. That seems like a good price to me.

Caustic soda beads work great when mixed with a surfactant. Some guys even use regular dishwashing liquid.

been using a product from Ecolabs called Liquid Smokehouse Cleaner for years . works very good on carbonized grease . just need to have hot or warm surface when applying . this is caustic allright it will stain the hell outa of a hood if left on for too long. recently tried another Eco product called Regain . this is my choice for inside the entire canopy . lil more user freindly won't burn the hide so fast. paying less than $60 for both products. very concentrate goes along ways when used properly.

Call Vector and order the Tornado in a 55 gal "KIT". It's cheap, FDA approved, not as toxic as most other chemicals, etc... and it works very well. It wont stain the hell out of a hood either.
