New to 2 stepping

I am looking into switching from brushing trucks to using a 2 step process and I have some questions.
How does the 2 step process work in general?
How do you apply the chemicals and is there a way to try out the process without buying any new equipment?
Is 2 stepping faster than brushing?
Does it require 1 person or 2?
Who manufacturers the best chemicals?

Thanks for any help

Do a search on this forum "2-stepping" you'll find what your looking for.

(How does the 2 step process work in general?)

When the two chemicals meet it causes a chemical reaction that causes a explosion between the two which lifts off the grime.

(How do you apply the chemicals and is there a way to try out the process without buying any new equipment?)

Downstreamer, pumpup sprayer,flo-jet and some upstream.....do not know what eqt. you have as to know whether if you need to buy anything new.

(Is 2 stepping faster than brushing?)

I guess it would depend on who's on the brushhandle but I would like to think its faster, its easier.

(Does it require 1 person or 2?)

Its the best helper a one person can have, meaning for a one person team its the only way to go.

I've been using my upstream to put soap on and am thinking about using a shurflo to speed things up...not to mention how quick acid dries in this heat. I have a 1.8 gpm 60 psi shurflo pump in my shop and was wondering would this still deliver enough volume and pressure through a 75 foot hose to apply the soap.

James your powerwasher outs out X number gpm at X number psi which would be faster than 1.8 gpm at 60 psi shurflo.Believe me I understand the drying part but do not know how a shurflo would speed things up,tell me more.

If I'm putting on acid downstream and have my help putting soap on right behind me it would speed things up by not having to wait on soap to get through the system and back out of the system.

o..ok..I see

B/c of dwell time you may need to make your mix a alittle stronger.

I've done it before, its somewhat faster, depends on your helper, you'll have to keep a eye on your hoses to keep from getting them twist together.

What is the best acid to use. We used two products from Zep cleaners and we are not seeing any results.

Look in the phone book under chemicals, there should be someone around that makes soaps, degreasers and acids. The wholesalers that makes this stuff is better than what you can buy in most cases. You may have to drive 50/100 miles to pick it up if no one in your local area makes it.I drive 159 miles round trip to pick mine up and its two blocks from a Zep store.

If you buy enough at on time it makes a long trip worth it. I've found that ZEP is way over priced. The products I buy are about $6 gal. Zep charges $11-$12 ga.
