Hey Y'all

What about spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and an extra can of Copenhagen? I would put Busch beer on here but I might look like a drunk.

Mike,

Guess this post came back after that job we did together the other day. By the way...you mentioned a generator. I didn't know you had a generator on your Delco rig.

I was just working on a spare parts list when I found this post. I did a cut & paste into a word doc, for my own use. I deleted duplicates, removed comments, and added an item (#49) before thinking about putting the results back up here.

I thought it would be interesting to see how many of these items people are carrying on their rigs. If you relpy, to make it easier I numbered each item, so you can just list the numbered items rather than typing everything out.

Paul,

Very impressive the way you did that and a help for all.

Wondering if today more could be added guys?

What I do not carry mostly because I don't have need for them. A few because I just never got around to adding them.

#2: map book but not local maps.
#4: Should I ask what it is used for?
#5: Need to buy.
#11: Need to buy.
#14: don't own.
#15: No need for them.
#16: Yes but not all you list.
#22: Nope.
#26: No need for them.
#29: Nope.
#33: Nope.
#36: BUGS? as in Bugs Bunny:) NOPE
#45: Nope.
#47: Nope

I will add one thing now, I carry a spare spinner bar for the surface cleaner ready to go, tips on it.

Also spare wands, couple sizes.

Heavy duty nylon rope in case you ever need to be towed or tow someone. And I do mean HEAVY DUTY, nice thick yellow rope.

I also use a professional blower before cleaning areas that have lots of trash. Sure it is the sweepers job but if I am there first I do it. He has referred me to a couple accounts because of doing a part of his job.

Misc. hose clamps, duct tape and few other bits and peices in tool box.

Ok a question some might and might not answer, do any of you carry a weapon, either with or without a concealed weapons permit? Touchy question but just wonder. I know of a couple that do and have all legal papers to do so.

Jon,

Whether you realize it or not, while you are working, at least part of the time, you have a very effective close range weapon in your hand. Water at a couple of thousand psi can inflect some major damage on the body if the nozzle is near or against the skin and if it's hot water, even worse. Even at 6 to 8 feet, a blast of hot water in the face would probablly slow down a would-be attacker. Install a tee and hang your wand with your gum blaster nozzle on your surface cleaner, that way it's available while running the surface cleaner. Of course there could be times when a longer range weapon might come in handy.

As for answering your question about carrying a weapon, so far I have not worked in an area where I felt I needed to carry a firearm. But, if at point in the future I felt I would be working in an unsafe area, especially at night, with no one to help watch my back, that might be a possibility. I would much rather be judged by 12 of my peers, than carried by 6.

I just read this thread, so I guess I'm resurrecting it after several months of being dead. I just thought the list was great that everybody had come up with.

Some of the things we carry with us that I didn't see on the list:
* a gallon jug of vinegar
* baking soda
* Vaseline
* Wet One's and Lava Wipes
* Toilet Paper
* Tylenol/Aspirin

The vinegar and baking soda is for fast neutralizing in case of spills, especially on skin. The vaseline we use on our hands, arms, face, ears, back of neck, etc., when we are spraying acids or strippers and it stops the burns if the wind changes direction. The Wet One's and Lava Wipes are just for personal hygiene, Wet One for just quickly cleaning up dirt from face and hands and the Lava Wipes if you are covered with grease. Soap and water works too, but the wipes are nice because you just pull them out of a container and close it back up. Tylenol/Aspirin is self-explanatory. The TP is pretty obvious and I'm surprised none of you thought of it already. I can't tell you how many times I've been on a job site cleaning heavy equipment and the Port-A-John was out of TP. What a nightmare... :)

That's about all I can think of.
