    cedar roof

Hey Mike, it all depends on the pitch and if the shingles are wet. As far as removing the moss I found it easier when the roof was dry. After the roof is wet, I'm always roped off, no matter what the pitch is.

I went to home depot and bought one of them double edge garden hoes, with a hoe on one side and a pair of fingers on the other. Made things a little easier becouse you could walk along and remove the moss.

    Full or Part-Timer?

I started part time last year and business picked up so much early this past spring so I jumped full time. Not a smart move, about 6 weeks ago I finished my last job and have not had a call since. Advertising has just about left nothing in my pockets. I sent out flyers and got 1 response for...

    Stripping Deck Mate- HELP

I agree with Mike, Stripex-L full strength and let it dwell as long as possible. Whatever you do, don't let it drip on your arms when doing the top of the spindles. I did a tough one this spring and didn't even realize that some dripped on the back of my forearm and by the time I felt...

    flat work

Alright, I measured it today but didn't get a chance to talk with the manager. There's 7100 sq. ft. but about 4000 of it is in really good shape, the other 3000 has gum about every square foot. I didn't get a chance to find out if they want a one time deal or scheduled maintience. Thanks, Jim

    flat work

Got a call today to bid the walks in front of a big grocery store that has lots of gum. How would you go about setting up a contract for this job. Quarterly, monthly or what? Do you charge more for the inital wash then drop the price or not? Thanks Jim

    cedar roof

Glenn, Is that company in or around the twin cities? If so, I'd like to see it in action on cedar shingles. I can see it working on asphalt but not on cedar, at least none of the ones that I've done. If it impresses me in action I'd buy one too. Walking the roofs is really hard on the legs...

    cedar roof

Mike, So far we've been really lucky. There has always been a few shingles to replace, so I pick a couple of the worst ones right under the ridge cap and remove the old shingle then I have some hoops that bolt into the roof with 4-2½ lag bolts. From there it's the good ole ropes and...

    cedar roof

Hey Debi, For starters I don't think that the pitch witch would work on a cedar roof. Way to many grooves to get in to. I just got done with a 6000 sq ft roof that we took so much moss and dirt off. The roof turned out great but the moss is a time killer. We use a product called Cheveron...

    Credit cards

For all you that accept credit cards, I was just curious how much that increases your sells and how you go about setting this up. Any help would be great. Jim

    Neighbors complaining

Thanks Thanks for all the replies, Before I even started this job I spotted a great fence that I really wanted for the publicty, just happens it is next door to the whiners house. Now I want to hit them up and give them a discount just to get the job. Lots of decks and fences in this...

    Neighbors complaining

Had an interesting afternoon today. I've been on a cedar shingle roof for a couple of weeks now. First I wash the house roof of 60 Squares and pulled off for a couple of days to let the roof dry out before I sealed it and the owner calls me up and wanted the Garage of 35 square done too. Today...

    Power Washing equipment survey

Open looking for enclosed Right now I have an open trailer and love it, but the weather conditions make me want an enclosed. I sub off some guys earlier this season and they had a 26' box truck. I hated it! It's way too easy to just throw your stuff in and run. If you need to run someplace...

    Stains on dryvit

Hey Mike, I just did an older stucco building that had really bad black streaks coming down from the roof flashing. I tried several things and ended up using Castrol super clean 1:1 and did a little brushing. The owner was very thrilled with the results.

    Your Method of Sealing?

Hey Rick, What kind of tip do you use with that set up?

how would you do this deck??

Hey Johnny, Bleach works well on wasps. I used my house wash mix in a pump up sprayer and added about another ½ gal. of bleach. It killed every yellow jacket in my shed. They didn't even try to attack.

    Bugs

Alright all you fleet washers, what's the secret to getting all the bugs off the top of the wind jammers? Do you all carry ladders to the job? Or do you just use longer brush poles? Thanks, Jim
