I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A 2ND PRESSURE WASHING MACHINE. i WOULD LIKE TO GET ATLEAST A 3500 PSI MACHINE, BUT AM LEANING TOWARDS A 4000 PSI MACHINE. I WANT A MINIMUM OF 4 GPM, BUT WOULD PREFER 5.0 OR 5.5 GPM.

LOOKING AT 2 MACHINES SO FAR:

1. BELT DRIVEN, 13HP HOND GX 390 ENGINE W/ 3 BELT PULLEY
SYSTEM, GENERAL TRIPLEX PUMP (4 GPM), 3500 PSI FOR
$1,099. CAN UPGRADE TO AN AR OR GP 5.5 GPM PUMP
FOR $140 MORE. ALUMINUM FRAME, 10" AIR TIRES.

2. DIRECT DRIVE, 13HP GX390, 4000 PSI, 4 GPM, TRIPLEX PUMP.
$883.00

THESE DO NOT COME WITH HOSE, NOZZLES, TRIGGER GUNS, WANDS, OR CHEMICAL INJECTORS. THAT KIT WITH 100 FEET OF HIGH PRESSURE HOSE IS $99.

IF ANYONE CAN RECOMMEND A BETTER DEAL, PLEASE DO. ALSO, ANY INPUT ON BELT DRIVEN OR DIRECT DRIVE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THE LANDA MACHINE I USE FOR MY BUSINESS NOW IS BELT DRIVEN. THANKS.

Bill,

Using the 13 HP Honda and a 5.5 GPM pump running at 5.5 GPM your pressure will be @ 2000 PSI.

I would advise going with a belt drive unit, it will last longer.

I am confident I can Match or Beat the deal you are referring to.

Mike is correct about the flow. As a matter of fact, I would love a 2000psi/5.5gpm machine! I usually work at 4-500psi anyway, the extra flow would be great.

Something to think about (and I wish I had before I bought my 4000psi machine) is the cost of the "extras" - hoses especially. If possible, the ideal ,machine would be 3000psi/5gpm. Do you have a tank? Many spigots will not supply more than 4gpm (sometimes less) so you will need at least a float tank.

Although flow is the way to go....psi is also important if you are going to do concrete cleaning, especially with a surface cleaner.

It's true some spigots, especially older residential, won't provide flow over 4 gpm. In order to run a 5.5 gpm washer on a 4 gpm source for one hour, you will need an extra 90 gallons of water! Hardly what I'd call a float tank.

A 5.5 gpm is a beautiful thing. Just be prepared to carry around extra water. I always run out of my tank, while using the water source to refill my tank. Typically I try to keep at least 150-200 gallons in the tank, maybe more or less depending on what I'm washing.

You never want to cavitate your pump.

For everyday residential use, I like the portable 4 gpm 3500psi belt drive setups. Give Mark a chance, I think he can set you up for less than you may think.
