I just wanted to know what type of camera everyone was using to build their photo albums. I have a 35m camera that I don't like and want to get a new one. I'm thinking of getting a digital and wanted to know what others were using and what type is recomened. Can you get a digital camera in a wide angle lens ? Seems like I can never fit the whole deck in the picture with the camera I currently use.

Craig,

I use a Sony Mavica, which puts the pics on disks. I like it very much.

You can use picture editing software to stitch multiple picutures together.........I have done that a few times when I cant fit it in one shot.

Last week picked up a Olympus C3040 with a 128 card. Love it-3.4 Megapixel-whatever it works.

For those that have a digital - do you find the need to have a good optical zoom? Am also looking at digitals - targeting ~2.1 MPixel and 3X optical zoom. Wondering if this is correct range to be evaluating. Bill

Kodak 3900. Never have mastered resizing pictures to post.

Software that came with it does not do the job. As Mike said need after market software designed for that.

hey Craig,

....use them both. I have a digital that i use for quick downloads and such, but i always take pics with my 35mm for the quality. I have practiced a little photography and like to create certain looks with certain pics, and i cannot do it with a digital. When it comes to the pics that go in the album or get blown up, it is the 35mm.

ps for you guys that do decks, i have found the best pics to be taken are from a second-story window, looking down at the deck. Otherwise, it will be extremely tough to ever get a good floor pic.

I agree about the above idea............as evidenced by this picture of a new PT deck sealed with Ready Seal Natural Cedar. Took the picture from a ladder.

Sony Mavica, with the CD, if you can afford it, the Sony Mavica with the disc if you can't. I prefer it a lot over the memory card thing.

I use a Kodak DC200 plus that I've had for a few years. I got it on sale for 300 but this was when digatal cameras were just becoming affordable. I also got a underwater case for it to keep it dry! They have wide angle lens avaib;e or used to be availible for the camera I have.
You can also email your pics to kodak and get prints of them

Mike they ain't lying that deck look's great, I used to build deck's and I don't think I ever left one looking that good, course I didn't seal them as the treated lumber wasn't dried out enough when ever I had finished so it wasn't even in the bid, one thing I have noticed in a lot of these pictures is the use of 2x4's for the decks,
I always used 2x6's which I thought was common practice, does it change from one region to the next or was it just me
