Coupler Manufacturer - who makes the best

A related thread caused me to wonder if others have thoughts regarding the best manufactured plugs and couplers. I have tried Breco, Hanson, and ESpecs private label. Found the ESpec jobs to be very poor quality, Breco to be decent. Haven't tried enough of the Hansen plugs/couplers to get a good feel, but initial thoughts are they are not as good as Breco.

Anyone like to share their thoughts? More interested in user feedback than distributor feedback for obvious reasons.

I have some stamped from General Pump that are working well. Also, we have a local hydraulic supply store that carries the Parker line, and those seem really nice, but are kinda pricey.

The only good thing you can say for certain about E*Spec, is that their prices are about the lowest on the planet for odds-n-ends stuff. Considering the 3/8" couplers are about $2.50, what can ya say?

Mark, I read the thread you suggested. Very informative.
While I was unable to get to the thread by clicking on the page indicated in your post, I was able to get it by performing the search Mark indicated - i.e. Best AND coupler.
Based on that thread. looks like it is worth trying Adams.

I recently ordered some couplers from Mark, and I ordered a couple from e*spec for comparative purposes, and I can honestly say the ones from Mark seem to work smoother, and seem to have a better machined appearance. I don't really know about long term results, but I think I have a hunch which ones will last longer......

The couplers from e*spec don't even have mfr names on them, so I guess they truly are generic, and are possibly 2nds. I firmly believe you get what you pay for.

I am a design engineer for a company in G.R. Michigan by day, and we are a certified parker distributor. We have designed several systems for car wash accounts, and use parker fittings, couplings, etc. The cost of the fittings will veary from distributor to distributor, The company I work for is notoriously cheaper than many others with the same product. If any of you are intrested in doing a cost comparison, I would be happy to put you in touch with a sales person. We also handle items from other manufactures. Before settling on one particular distributor, check around to several others. Chances are some one will be cheaper. I am not a sales person, and I don't get any kick back from my company or any other company for advertising, but I know some items from the parker line are very good in quality~~course others, well?????

Just my two cents in this slow moving economy.

Oh yea, I could probably dig up some literature that can possibly be used for compairison purposes. I might also have some quality and usage specifications and some literature on industry standards.

Paul,

As nice as specs, and literature are, nothing beats the results to be had out in the field. If I believed all the literature I read, then I would think E*Spec is the best thing to come along since sliced bread. They are the kings of embellishment.

I just recently bought a couple Parker 3/8 q/c and plugs, and they seem to be of very good quality. I've been using them for about two weeks now, and they operate as smooth as silk. They are machined very nice, and seem to be made of good quality brass. My only beef is they are $6 apiece, which is kinda high.

Beer or champagne anyone?
