Credit Card usage?

I'm new in the bus since May, and I've yet to have a customer ask if I take CC's. A local (Boston) service is offering free set-up and 2.97% for life if I come on now.
Their monthly is $50 (lease) for 48 months and then I own it (big whoop), or I can buy it outright for
$1400. His big push is that if one person calls a month because they've seen that I take CC's,this alone pays for the units lease. ???????? My question is how many times do you all have customers
either call because they've seen that you take CC's or, sign a deal cuz they could put it on the card??????

He's calling me back tomorrow at 8AM.

If you'd rather, e-mail me: hydro_pro1@hotmail.com

Thanks,

We don't take credit cards and have never lost a customer {that we know} due to that. All of my customers pay in cash or check. Most businesses would rather pay by check also. I have heard though that some businesses like to just credit a card and that way you get your money within a day instead of waiting for the billing process. But just not worth it to us. Just our 1 cent worth..

He isn't doing you any favors. Those prices have been for the past 3 or 4 years!
It's been so long since I took a credit card that I don't remember how and it is sitting right next to me.
If you are really desperate to have it - at least check out the pawn shops - I think a pawn shop around here has one for sale.

Run - don't walk - away from that deal. You can do MUCH better. I pay about $6.00 per month if I don't meet my minimum and 3% up to a certain amount if I do. Either way it's not much.

I take all 4 major cards and I just had someone at my bank set me up through them. I think I might have laid out $300 or so to get the equipment and so forth but you can probably find better deals than that. I didn't shop around.

We don't get much business from them -maybe one house a month if that much. We once had a government account pay around $6000 with a card and it was nice to have that deposited to our account the next day instead of waiting 30 days. (30 days - yeah, right).

Quickbooks from Quicken also has a credit card function that might be very affordable, plus there's no equipment to buy. I don't know much about it, though.

Good luck.

Shop around, not a good deal. The US goverment only pays by CC, for the most part. Local goverments are paying more and more by CC. I have several goverment jobs that pay after the job is completed by CC. In my line of service, regarding local jobs I have yet to be paid for by CC.

I've been going strong for three years now without accepting cards........checks have been just fine.....just two NSF checks from customers in 1006 invoices!

I did however lose a government job last year because I didnt accept credit cards.

BE CAREFUL! We got scamed from one of those companies when we first got started. Sounded to good and it was. They are really smooth talkers. Check with the BBB in your area but we will not do any CC with anyone other than our bank. That other companie is still trying to make electronic funds withdrawals from an account we had to close. They never even sent us the machine amd they are still trying to charge us.

The others are right---RUN DON'T WALK AWAY!
Go only thru a bank.

We agree.RUN. Haven't lost a customer yet due to not taking a card, been ask to maybe 2 times in 3 years. If you do decide to go with C.C. shop around you will find a better deal else where.
