Dead in the water

Hello gents,
I was about an hour from completing a scheduled clients public area, when whoosh my high pressure hose blew off the reel coupling. I saw that the hose is attached with a compression type fitting. Needless to say the job is still incomplete and I have to get another compression fitting and have it connected. My question is.. is this a common occurence? I've got 14 meter hours on the new machine. Is there another method of connecting the hose in the field? Lost time and unfinished jobs will turn clients away quickly.

What I have done in the past when the swivel breaks is just attach my hose to the end of the jumper hose going from the burner to the reel, or even just attach the hose to the burner outlet fitting.

Your local P/W Dealer should be able to fix the hose,
we have some fittings for in the field repairs, however
most of our customers just carry a spare hose. [hello]

Oh I thought he was talking about how he could reattach the hose without the reel working. Sorry
Yep I always carry an extra 50' and also a hacksaw and hose field repair kit.

Hydro,

Did you get your hose fixed? If not, I may be able to help you out. Give me a call if you need to.

Thanks Mr. Alan

Alan,
Thanks for your offer, which I may take up at a later date. I will take the hose to Orme Bros. in Northridge to have the hose fixed. Lester, at Haynes Sales in Moorpark will sell me an extra 100' hose for $158. If you know of a field repair kit, please let me know.

Dennis,
You mean you actually spoke to someone at Haynes? I called them in the past and all I ever got was voice mail and no return calls. I gave them about 5 tries and they failed each and every one.

Mark carries everything you need, and ships fast as well. I have ordered plenty from him and I can say that you will not be disappointed. Also, his volume is much higher than many others, so his pricing is very competitive.

If it is a just can't wait for shipping, and you gotta have it now, then call me and see if I have one laying around that can get you back up and running quickly, while you wait for it.

I have used reusable hose ends in the past. You do have to cut the hose, and it is a pain, but the ones I have used have held up well. They are not real reusable though.

Its safer to carry a extra hose,if soap is on the subject it will dry before you can cut and repair the hose. Its not only safer but faster and easier to replace the hose with the extra hose,it will pay for itself, time is money.

Thanks for the many replies and excellent advice.

Mr. Alan, I will call Mark. Larry, I've purchased an extra hose. Not is only "time is money" true, to save the frustration and embarrassment is an issue I don't need.
