hey ya'll, my name is jon and i am new to this board, and am enjoying it thouroghly. i've been in the business small-time for 4 years, but just graduated from school and am fixin to try and blow it up. here is a marketing idea that i came up with, and i wanna get ya'lls honest opinions as to what you think of it. i have a 12' enclosed trailer that i do business out of that i pull behind a truck. i was thinking of approaching the owner of an upscale grocery store in the area i work in and seeing if i could park there one saturday afternoon and have a couple other guys with me wearing company shirts and handing out flyers. we would also be giving away free hot dogs and cokes, and would have a display of pictures showing work that i've done. i would also have a drawing for a free deck cleaning (not sealing, my luck i'd draw the person with a $2'500 deck). All applicants would have to write their name, address, and phone # on a note card to be eligible. Of course, i would also be calling their name a couple of times throughout the year. thought it might be worth a shot. ya'll give me your 2 cents worth, be blunt, does it sound too cheesy?? comments appreciated! thanks, jon

Sounds like it might work. Why not sign up for the nearest home show in your area, you would pretty much do the same thing, but all the people there are looking for new products and services to better there home.

I agree with John, the home show would be more fruitful, but it may not be until sometime next year........look into it.

The grocery store idea is a good one, but, what is the grocery store owner going to want in return?? It wouldn't hurt to ask him......

You have to keep your eyes and ears open,They have them at malls, convention centers and other places.I have never did one of these but I always get calls about them from sales-people who get your name from the phonebook.

Hey,
The local Chamber of Commerce will be able to tell you about the home show. Also local radio stations/news paper.
I just did a Home show here in Cookeville ( we are neighbors ) and it went great.
I also found out that there are several other expo's and events like Home Shows through out the spring in my area that I never knew of. E-mail me if you have any questions. aquaman@charter.net
Just dont market 1 hour east of Nashville!
