Doing Hoods with Pressure Wash Accounts

It has been suggested to me by individuals who I hold a high regard for to consider rolling in KEC with my pressure washing biz.

Though on the surface it sounds like a logically fit as I service monthly and quarterly accounts in 3 states for washing. I had one client call me and offer me some of their KEC accounts (Reno and parts of Cali)...a total of approximately 23 locations.

Not knowing hardly anything about KEC I am trying to wrap my mind around this idea as a consideration.

What are the pros and cons to this?

Appreciate the feedback.....

Carlos, I have considered that too, but to me, there is a lot that goes into it, almost like a whole other business. I really respect the guy's that do it, as I am sure you do too, but for me I just believe in the principal of 1. Concentrate on one thing and do it really really well. There are many crossover things we can do as pressure washers, Res, Comm, Ind, etc. I just worry for me that if I were add another field like KEC, one or the other would suffer.

I am sure not everyone would agree with me but it's just my opinion. Hopefully some others will chime in.

That many accounts though is certainly worth a look see.

On average the Hood guys have the most ongoing accounts on a continuous bases. Big money in hoods. Just look at that guy who is selling all those hood franchises. Probably a great opportunity to consider hood cleaning. Theres a guy on another bb who is selling a bunch of hood accounts. IF that was here in NY I would look into it only because of what deal he is looking to get.

Entrepreneurs make the big bucks and its about the money...The love of the work goes out the window years ago[wsmile]

I wish I could branch out to be an entrepreneur but it may not be in my cards.

P/S- I bet we know the same person who branched out to hood cleaning in the south and is now dead set that its the way to go.

23 locations it maybe worth investigating.

I also think if this venture causes negative effects with respect to current revenue/growth/customer relations in your present type of services it may not be worth while at the moment.

You are in the best position to answer this question, but its great to bounce ideas off of others.

Having done both, I don't recommend it. If you were a hood cleaner, I'd say go for it. Its an easy upsell and is easy compared to KEC. It may be best to wait until you have a couple of crews. In the interim keep selling new accounts and do what you know. When you reach that critical mass and are ready to grow, you can have a big list of clients and hit it hard.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

The two people I would refer KEC to in Cali would be Matt and Ant...hands down!!

The one observation I can make would be this. I think it would be easier to go from KEC to flat work than it would be from flat to KEC.

Yes most definitely. I just never liked to go inside to clean anything. Parking garages are the closest thing to inside cleaning that we do.
