Front End Loader Radiator....

I've been asked to steam clean 5 rads on front end loaders. Since this job won't take that long, I don't want to charge by the hour. I want a fixed unit cost to make it profitable. Any suggestions...Thanks..Will

Not to sound insulting so please don't take this the wrong way.

How much do you know about cleaning heavy equipment radiators. Do you know that they may be damaged very easy and I mean easy?

When you say fast to clean I get nervous

I wash alot of heavy equipment and radiators can take a real long time and lots of water.
Like Dave said the fins can be real delicate.

They are going to have a guy there to take the sheilds off and I have been washing Rads out for another company for over a year now. But when I do that it is part of cleaning the whole piece of equipment and I charge that by the hour. I know roughly what I am going to charge but just thought I would get your guys opion first.

It would seem they would want the whole thing washed......

It would depend if they where setting all lined up or one setting here and one setting over there and another one over there.Nomatter I still would want what I want per hour, one may take 10 minutes and one may take 30 minutes with baked in grease.Sometimes small jobs is a break even deal priced at whats reasonable to the customer but I had rather keep my chemicals in my tanks as to break even on small jobs or even big jobs. When it comes to small jobs The customer does not realize your cost as to parts,chemicals,tires,brakes,gas,ect.,ect..By them not washing the loaders and only washing the rad's tells me they want something for nothing.

What 25 per if not bad?

Thanks Larry, you made some really good points there. For the first time I'm going to do it by the hourly rate. Then after that I will have a better idea what shape the rads are in and may have a better idea on what I can charge per unit. Thanks again....
