i washed part time for over ten years, in 99 i opened up a repair shop working on pw equipment, i had a good start and then then 9-11 happened and everything went south. so i went back to work for someone else where i was absolutely miserable. i was still selling a few chems and worked on equipment on the side and of course still washing. january of 2005 i quit my job, i went to work driving a school bus for the bennies and steady paycheck although it is not much. currently i am washing steady. i have learned to ask questions when i am quoting a home owner, asking questions has landed me several paint jobs, deck treating, vinyl siding installation, home repairs, yard maintenace etc. and you don't always have to know how to do these things, but it does help to know someone that does. so now i am somewhat of a general contractor, which enabled me to build a spec house last year and now starting another one this year. i still stay busy pressure washing, and i work on other peoples equipment on occassion, sell a few chemicals etc. hopefully my 18 year old will be taking over the pressure washing to get him through college. i still enjoy it, but i'm getting to the age where alot of body parts ache when i wake up.
