Heavy paint

I was called for a graffiti cleanup and it turned out to be a huge mess. Someone threw a combo of oil, latex, and varnish on a painted cement wall, aluminum roll up door and asphalt alley way.
Test patches were unsuccessful, with the exception of stripping it to bare surface and then having to repaint it. The globs of paint are as thick as 1" in places.
The client called a graffiti control company and they ran away saying that they were not equipped for the waste recovery and referred me for that reason.
I told the client that I would strip everything, repaint and reslurry the asphalt in front of the unit. What would you guys do, and what would you charge? I did not include my bid in this post, so as to get a neutral opinion on pricing. What would you charge, for this mess, regardless of the area your in.

Alan, I have never tackled anything like this! However, when I do "restoration" jobs I charge an hourly rate - I use one rate for labor type work, and a second for PWing. On this one I would also probably charge for materials separately, perhaps tell them they will eat any stripper costs above a certain amount.

Also, I would try to mechanically remove the globs before pulling out the strippers. I think you will use less material and handling of junk will be lessened.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Well, job is done. Will send my invoice tomorrow and wait for any concerns they have after inspection.

Thanks Jon. Just a reminder, that the door was repainted after the paint removal, I wish it would of all washed away though.

On the door and wall, washed and washed and washed, then scraped with razor and sanded then repainted.(this paint was about 1/2 inch thick) On the asphalt, washed and washed and washed again, then scraped with shovel and razor, then resealed
with Henry 532( this paint was over an inch thick in most places).
This was a slow moving process, and took me 5 hours, and my painter spent about 4 hours( he tinted the paint on site, so the paint is an exact match.)
Not the most glamorous work, and took me another 2 hours to clean my reclaim system from all the paint. However, they paid very well and cut the check the next day.

Phoenix,

The customer who is a property management company was extremely happy and Thankful. Nobody else wanted this
job, that's how I got it to begin with, a referral from another Pressure wash company.
This company has a lot of buildings and property, so I am hoping they will want these cleaned soon, since their regular washer moved away.
