Definitely could use some advice on sealing decks. I've been working on technique this summer and have made good progress, but still a rookie. I typically use Olympic Maximum and have had good results with applying with Shurline sealing pads (I use the seven inch pads to cut in, then the 18 inch pads to do the rest of the floor), painters mitts, brushes, etc. This allows for very little prep time around the house. Like everyone else seems to, I have tried lots of methods to speed up the vertical stuff.....Have had trouble with airless--way too much overspray (any advice on removing overspray film from my truck's paint and windows would be appreciated as well!). My question: If I primarily want quick spraying of verticals and don't need to spray floor and near house, are HVLP's a good way to go? Do they really cut down on overspray as advertised? I've been looking at Wagner's 2600/2900 as well as the conversion gun for an air compressor.....thanks!

Pumptec decker 5 sprayer and I use Ready Seal or Wood Defender for spraying my decks.

Try waxing/buffing the truck and windows it's gonna come off.

This is my pump i use to spray Baker's Gray Away....IT's a WHOLE lot cheaper and just as good as the deckster! [whatup]

Hey wood saver, I like it. I figure now that I could build my own for about a third of the cost of the decker but it was a good starter rig. I bought one of the last electric rigs they were offering up here.

I almost convinced myself that I needed a ST-250 from wood defender, talk about a pricey rig.... The 2 50 gallon tanks and the 150ft of hose is nice but the price. Their trailer rig is almost 20 grand. I can buy a $600 rig and not feel bad about keeping the rest of my cash.

How do you like the Gray away? How does it do on Decks? I have heard mixed reviews. I am spraying mostly Ready Seal and pretty happy with it. How do you like the Gray away? How does it do on Decks?

I think the Gray Away looks SOO much richer and is a better product than RS and it's built our biz since 1992.We are a distributor here in Houston for Texas Wood Products who makes the Gray Away in Plano.

Get a Mothers clay bar to get the over spray off your truck. You simply wet the area and rub the clay bar on it and it picks off the stain. I had a wind shift last year that hit my truck and I use my sons clay bar and it got all of the overspray off. Cut your pressure to the lowest setting. Many deck stains are thin and can be sprayed with a pump up garden sprayer so you don't need much pressure. I bought a more powerful sprayer $$$ one year and regretted it because I could only dial the pressure so low. Now I just use a cheap $ 300 sprayer about 1/3 hp from campbel hausfield.

Great pics Shane, that gazebo looks awesome. I like the color of the super cedar. I checked out their web page, they definately need better pics on their web site. They should be using your pics. I did go ahead and contact them with some questions. I'll let them know you refer'ed me if I buy.
