this is a message JR posted recented on his precedure for doing decks:
"Greg I cut out a 2.5 X 3.5 piece of luan with a hole for a handle and attach a sheet or a cut piece of that disposable dropcloth on it and when I do the inside rail facing out I just hold it over the rail and spray into it.It was a strain at first but now I can fly."
he got me thinking because i wasn't exactly sure what he was doing. i knew what he was trying to accomplish but i couldn't picture his contraption.
well last night i got in at 9:30p from doing a deck(thank goodness it was nearly a full moon!!!!) and was keyed up. tried to sleep but couldn't. at 2:30am i had an idea which got me outta bed. i thought it was so funny that i went to 7-11 and got me some cigars and a big gatorade and came back to the garage and went to work.
heres my simple idea: my wife has this small lamp in the garage taking up valuable space. what if i take that lamp shade and mount it to my flojet??? I had to drill the hole out a little more, add a couple of washers and a screw clamp and stuffed some paper towels in the top to prevent blowback and wammo!! i was ready for war with the best of them....
well i tried that baby out today, and guess what, it worked!
i was able to get about two feet from the home. made that part of the job an absolute breeze. 900 sq ft deck.... about 10-15 minutes max to do the floor and thats rolling the little puddles out. i did put up canvess around the railing though to reduce the air flow across the deck, although not real sure if that was necessary.. the only draw back was the old shade was plastic in the inside and mist build up cause it to drip, really noticable when you stopped to roll the puddles, but that was not a real issue.
i did have a casualty though..... i broke that brittle plastic loading up at the end of the day.
thanks JR for getting me thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: my wife is vacationing with her family in PA... she doesn't know about this yet LOL
happy birthday to our great nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
