I found that to get more website traffic, is to have lots of websites, related to your industry, linked to your site. When someone does a search, the spiders search for websites that appear to have the most importance. Having other sites linked to your site, and reciprocated by those sites by linking back, gives your site the image of greater importance. They gather the relavant sites on a search, and post the results. The sites that seem the most relavant, are on the top fo the search. This is what the SEO companys focus on to get your site in the top search results. Pay per click is one way, but it costs for each click.
If anybody is willing to post my site as a link on their site, I will gladly add yours to mine.
