Hey Mel that Blue one in the background looks nice.

Like Bigboy say, why Black? ah I know why, down in Texas it is HOT and they like it HOT so black makes the inside HOTTER.

Bigboy just had to get that F word in there somehow!

How do I tighten the knot in the BOWTIE tighter?

Don't you love that new Ford commercial, where the Chevy sinks, Like a Rock???

Nice truck Mel. I am sure that Jon hopes you have better luck with your Dodge than he had with his. At least you did not buy an aluminum diesel.

SCOTT,

FROM WHAT I HEAR THEY SEND ALL THE GOOD DODGE TRUCK TO TX, AND ALL THE GOOD FORDS TO CA. I HOP JON AND I GET OUR MONEYS WORTH,

I PULLED MY TRAILER WITH THE DODGE YESTERDAY , A WORLD OF DIFFERANTS. HAD TO KEEP LOOKING BACK TO SEE IF IT WAS BACK THERE!:D

Mel keep in mind I had the mechanical Cummins engine and yours is Electronic.

I did a lot of stuff to mine but the brakes are what did me in, I had so many close calls and I mean inches from rear ending others I had had enough.

Was not going to take a chance with a larger and bigger trailer with more equipment on it.

So far the only minus I have is milage, I used to get 17 to 19 with the Dodge and am only getting 13 with the Ford.

Not sure if it has to do with it being a V8 or what but after 5 weeks and 2400 miles I would hope it goes up. Average speed is 70 not towing and 60 to 65 towing.

JON,

THE FORD POWER STROKE , IS LARGER AND I GOT 16 NOT TOWING AND 11 TOWING.

MY FORD , I PUT 2 TRANSMISSON IN WITHIN 6MOS. 1ST ONE $1,850 2ND 30,000 MILES LATER $1,000 HE SPLIT THE COST WITH ME ON THAT ONE, I DID NOT WONT TO PUT A 3RD IN 6 MO FROME NOW! MY AVERAGE COST WOULD BE $235 PER MO.

WHEN I SELL THAT FORD , THE PAYMENTS WILL BE LESS THEN $400 ON THE DODGE;)

NICE TRUCK!!!!!

I have the 97 Dodge dually Cummings Turbo Diesel Truck that is also black. I don't have the extended cab.

I love this truck and most of the time I can't tell I have my trailer hooked to it when I'm cruising.

How ironic that you have a ford truck that you are selling. When I bought my Dodge truck I also had a Ford Truck that I had to sell.

In almost 5 yrs I haven't had one problem with this Truck.
To me there is no better Truck Then A Dodge Dually Cummings Diesel for the Money I paid.

Alrighty guys, I have had TWO Dodges in 7 years, both were truly good trucks but the last one had more brake problems then I want to talk about.

That was one of the reasons I got ride of it, not the 111,000 miles as that is nothing for a diesel truck.

I best not start having tranny problems unless Ford wants to add more clutches to the tranny to make it better.

Has anyone biefed up their tranny or installed an after market torque converter in it?

And yes I do like the Ford and NO we are not going to start another GM, Ford, Dodge thing.

MIKE ,

DONT KNOW FOR SURE? THE TRAILER IS A 12,000#, WITH 2 HOT WATER WASHERS AND A WATER TANK 525 GALLONS,SOAP 65,GAS 17 AND DIESEL 35 GALLONS AND A FEW OTHER THINGS ,SHOULD STILL BE UNDER 11,000 # LOADED.

THE GUY AT THE TRANSMISSIOM SHOP SAID THE OIL WAS LIKE WATER , THAT MENT THE TRANSMMION WAS GETTING HOT AND I NEEDED TO CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 15,000 MILES.

I DICIDED TO CHANGE TRUCKS !

That trailer weighs right at 9000 lbs. fully loaded. That is just a W.A.G. I know my traielr weighs really close to that, and I don't have any fluid problems with my truck. It could just be the difference in trucks. Mine is a 2000.

Guys please let me jump in here. I just retired yesterday, 6/28/02, as maintenance director of a medium sized transit agency. I am quite familiar with the Ford E4OD transmission. We operated among many other things, Ford cut-away buses with the power stroke engine. What we found with the newer units, 1996 and newer, was that we could increase the life of the unit by changing to Mobil 1 fully synthetic fluid, using the largest transmission cooler we could get mounted, and using a finned aluminum transmission oil pan which also added 3 to 4 quarts capacity.
Let me know if I can be of any help.
Thanks'

Guys I had this stuff on my Dodge and it made a difference.

Larger oil and trans pans. Was going to do the read end but never did.

Go to : www.mag-hytec.com

Might do it to the Ford too, but add up the cost and if you need to do one at a time do so.

I went from Amsoil to Delo oil also.

Bob are you referring to Mobil 1 for the engine oil or do they also make one for the tranny? and what would you recommend for the rear end?
