Hi, im 19 years old my name is brandon and as of right now i work full time doing fiberglass. i was looking into opening a pressure washer business on the side at first but was hoping maybe it would go somewhere. i have a 5hp cold water portable pressure washer right now. i dont have alot of expierence mainly just at home doing the driveway, walkways, deck, siding. i was wondering if anyone could help me out as far as if theres anything i have to get done before i start. it will just be me working in the business. any help at all will be greatly appreciated. I have already read the big post on how much to charge and learned a lot from it so i think i am pretty good there. but any other things like what i will need or what i can expect? Oh and by the way i live in central florida.

Even at the age of 61 I still cann't find all the answers either but searching can be alot of funny looking for something you cann't find.

First off your washer is to small to compete in this trade, the least would be a 4gpm hotwater to compete in all trades.
Not saying you cann't wash nothing with your washer but speed is every important which speed is gpm in this trade.

Please look hard at what you are going to do. In Florida we have a lot of two men in a truck here one day gone the next and the price they are setting
like say $75 for 1500 s/f home....What...no lic or ins...thats a must...Anyone can buy a pressure washer to run a biz right is a new ball game...good luck

ok thank you for all your help, i think i have decided right now is not a good time, just because i dont have much expierence i dont see the sense of me wasting money to go buy a new washer, insurance, get licensed and not even have any business yet to support it.

Pressure Washing Business

That's a good idea. First go get some jobs and customers lined up, maybe people you know whom will be understanding of your venture.

Only thing I can tell you to expect is that it isn't easy, and that the first few years will be lean ones while you are building a name for yourself. Not trying to deter you, that's just been mine and many others experience. Good luck!

That is exactly how I started. I had a friend at a major truck load carrier. They were / are very understanding and knew there was a learning curve. I also maintained a FT job while doing this... 80-90 hrs/ week and alot of research. Know your market and competition, there can never be too much reading and research.

I started with a 30$ investment and have been paying cash earned for everything since. We know that the 1st 3 years are going to be tough, but if the business was going, it was not going to take us too. We now have about 5-10,000 in equipment and are looking to buy a new truck and washer this month all in cash.

Know your limits and find someone that is willing to grow with you. Just my advice, only been doing this for a little over a year.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
