From the many posts I read ready seal gets great reviews and thompsons is despised...any one have an opinion on cabots or olympic products...I am searching for transparents or natural wood looking stains. My market likes the transparent look and actually likes the look of weathered grey wood...maybe I'll teach them other wise :)

Be careful with Cabots Semi Trans............it has a high content of solids and looks almost like a solid stain. The flip side of that is it holds up really well..............it just doesnt provide the look that alot of people want.

I don't have any experience with Olympic. I sealed one deck about 4 years ago with it..........but I have never been back to see it since.

If You was to do a comparison Cuprinol, Sikkens is the best >> well for me it is .. It's like Chevy/ Ford . every body will like something different .. It is one of those things where you are best to try different sealer's and judge for yourself. Good ole Trail-and-error never hurts anybody, But it makes you learn quicker. :):)

I have been using olympic and sikken for 7 years now and most of my customers choose olympic due to the cost difference. I can only tell you this. My company offers a 3 year limited warranty on all decks cleaned and sealed by us and I have never had a call back on either of the two. I stained and sealed my own deck 3 years ago with olympic semi and I have tons of trees that cover my deck and the olympic has not lost its color or intergrity.

I don't like Cabots for the reason of stripping, of the decks I have gotten that were stained by the customers were nightmares to strip without needing a sand.

Remember I am in a HOT dry climate and decks in the sun out in this neck of the woods no matter what you put on them need redoing once a year to two and two is pushing it.

Olimpic Natural look in the green can has been doing real well for me both in stripping on return work and holding up okay. The best thing I like about the Olimpic New look is how it really comes out on older decks.

I use SuperDeck Natural alot and sometimes the redwood but if the wood is old the Redwood Super Deck never really looks like it should vs the Olympic. In fact the deck we did yesterday was switched to Olympic from Redwood SD. The customer liked the way I brought the wood back and I told them becuase of it's age the redwood would look dark. So I did a sample brush out and they bit hard on the Olympic.

I am doing on deck that I have had since it was built for five years now I have been putting Natural Super Deck onit and it looks like a vergin deck each time I am done.

Down the road from it I am using Olympic for the first time, she has allways wanted redwood super deck but wants something differant this year to see how it works and lasts.

Thanks for the input all...I like the honey gold mainly because the natural look is preffered a lot here.......Hilton Head is basically a swamp so stuff falls from the trees year round and mold mold mold so no one is expecting a Deck to remain sealed or with out need of cleaning for more than 2years max....
